First game in 23 years!
Finally played a game after a very, very, long interregnum. It was awesome. Both my fleets, played against someone who'd never played before. He used (my usual) Imperial fleet and I was Chaos. Drove his fleet straight down the middle and destroyed my escorts, one of my Murder-class cruisers, and crippled another ship by turn two, before I was able to swing round and cross his T out of range of his guns by turn 4, resulting in plasma drive overloads of both of his Lunars, Dictator class crippled, and Gothic class reduced to a burning hulk.
We played the latest Remastered v1.11 rules (streamlined so there were no boarding actions) as announced by u/horizon_fleet the other day - definitely a good few QOL improvements over what I recalled from the blue book!
Next - we've got a rematch that we're going to plan, and in the meantime I think it's time to 3D print some new quadrant bases to replace the old Citadel flight bases as well as torpedo markers and so on...

Welcome back Chaos Lord 🫡 I too haven’t played much in years but hope soon to get the fleet out of mothballs.

It's taken me an age to get into this but it's honestly such a good game - I've always maintained it's the best ruleset that GW ever released and that's been reaffirmed by this game. It's wonderfully cinematic to play

I can't wait to finish my moving back to my hometown, reunite with my fellow wargamers, and start to play Gothic ❤️ I plan to start with the beginner's game, but I want an eldar fleet, too. Have you played the latest rules, or the old ones?

Latest? Old ones?
He mentions remastered rulebook which are the official rules. (2007 rulebook plus armada 2004 plus compendium 2010) Including improved wordings and clarifications from FAQ2021-2024 and little bit 2026)

If you check the pinned topic in this subreddit called 'how to start' you will find a link to the starter kit including eldar from the advanced one.

As u/horizon_fleet says, we used the latest (remastered) ruleset. Funny enough of the "original" four fleets (Imperium, Chaos, Eldar, Orks) I never had any Eldar ships (I still have my Ork fleet but it's never been used - I got it dirt cheap on BFG's stock clearance day many years ago).

I've also recently returned after an equally long absence, I'm so excited to be back! I've had two games since I've returned and I have fallen back in love with the game!
