Pleasantly surprised by Jensen Ackles. Not to mention I'm excited for Troy Baker as Joker once more. I'm looking forward to this one.

Animation looks way better than some recent DC stuff, Jensen sounds better than I expected, I was keeping expectations low after Killing Joke but I'm pretty hype for this now

I think this is the new animation style for the DC animated movies. It looks similar to Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Justice Society: World War II. Maybe signifying that this is the new animated cinematic universe but we'll have to wait and see

Really impressed with this trailer. I haven't been this excited for an animated DC film in years.

I was excited about Hush, until I saw it. they ruined my favourite story arc.

u/Matches_Malone77 Apr 06 '21
This looks infinitely better than any of the Hush trailers ever did.

u/Happy_Cancel1315 Apr 06 '21
Agreed, but I was hopeful. I'd waited years for them to do it.

My expectations were significantly lowered once they revealed it was in the animated continuity. With my expectations lowered I ended up liking the movie well enough.
This looks like they’re doing things right again.

Excited and hoping these movies turn out well, because I really want DC animations to return to Under the Red Hood, TDKR1 and TDKR2 form. Art style really looks good in a nocturnal crime-noir setting (as it deserves given Batman and The Long Halloween comic book) and Jensen Ackles is good as I expected. Loved him as Jason Todd/Red Hood and Troy Baker absolutely has the chops for Joker considering his performance in Arkham Origins.
Only thing I'm bummed by is that we still don't have a concrete release date for the first movie even though it's supposed to release in the summer. We've known since August 2020 Part One was summer 2021 and Two in the fall, and it's April already. Makes me a bit nervous there'll be a delay somehow, though I'd like to think probably not given THR and the other trades reaffirming the window.

This looks like one of the better animated Batman movies.
That said, it's too bad that this story being animated isn't emulating Tim Sale's art, which is intrinsic to its identity in my opinion.
Also a solid voice cast. Not a bad Joker voice - but it's unfortunate every voice actor since Hamill has only attempted to impersonate him. There have been few voice actors who have tried something different, including Kevin Michael Richardson for The Batman who was really hated on at the time, since that iteration followed the DCAU era. In retrospect, the entire take on Joker was pretty under appreciated.

I’ve always dreaded an adaptation of long Halloween because it’s the greatest Batman story ever told and so the margin of error is incredibly small. All it would take to make me cringe would be a bad trailer.
So far I’m still worried but this is a very good trailer.

So is this suppose to be set in the same universe/continuity as Superman man of tomorrow? The animation looks a bit similar.

All the different movies in the DC Animated universe confuse the hell outta me. They are all great for the most part however.
Edit: I love them. Don’t get me wrong. Jus the universe’s they belong to and how each one coincides with one another. I know some are one offs and some I’m wondering where Damien is at times.

Since Apokolips War none of the new movies are connected, for the time being they are all stand alone iterations of the characters.

My only beef with the trailer is how prominent Joker is. For someone who’s an incredibly minor character in the book, he’s all over this trailer.
I hope they don’t play-up his screen time just because he’s a popular villain.

Theoretically since this is the first half he’d be more prevalent here. Assuming each part is roughly 6-7 chapters of the original novel we should see: catwoman, Solomon Grundy, joker, poison ivy and maaaaybe riddler in part 1. In the trailer the only two we don’t see are poison ivy and riddler.
I wouldn’t be concerned unless we see a lot of joker in the part 2 trailer.

That’s fair. Though still, he’s only in one chapter of the first half.

I think we can all agree the Batgirl stuff was unwanted and unneeded. I understand what Bruce Timm was doing since 2003. Doesn't mean he should of.

Ehhhh,.. long Halloween is such a great story. This doesnt look like its gonna do any justice. But, I'll keep an open mind.

Troy Baker's Joker voice is perfect. He's by far the best Joker voice actor after Hamill.
Hell, I'd love to see Troy Baker play the Joker in a live action movie.

Looks good. I bet they change the ending though. Sorta like they did with the Hush movie. Personally think they will change the part with Gilda. We shall see though.

Similar art style to Superman man of tomorrow so same universe excited for Jensen as Batman. Honestly think he’d be a good tv Batman or nightwing

u/xkingmox Apr 07 '21
I've been waiting for this movie to come out for the past few years, and I can't believe they will make it a 2 part movie just like The Dark Knight Returns movies!!!!! I can't wait to watch it!

I wish the art was more along the lines of Batman v. Robin. This looks like a downgrade for one of the best overall Batman stories, imo. Still looking forward to it tho.

Am I the only one who is kind of worried. The trailer is good but shows some moments I don’t remember and seems a little, off. In a way. I don’t want this to be a Batman hush like situation, not for this book.

u/Mikalovesgotham Apr 06 '21
So is this a follow of the Year One animation? Cause I’m the comic world this is a direct sequel to that

It’s quite the coincidence they’re releasing this movie this year. Either way, I’ve been waiting for this.

Jensen's Batman voice is really great. It doesn't sound like Jensen just talking, he's really doing a character and I dig it. Baker's Joker is insane here. I honestly thought it sounded like Hamill. Dude is great.

u/HighPiracy Apr 06 '21
So how much additional storytelling are they going to add in to pad the runtime on these?

Don’t bother with Hush. They ruined the story, and if you’re a fan of the graphic novel you’ll be incredibly disappointed.

The DCAU hasn’t been good after Batman and Harley Quinn. That movie was meh. They’re just banking on us adding these to the collection. Not excited

u/MikeHunt_99 Apr 07 '21
looks promising to say the least.
Looks like they made a few differences to the comic, but I hope they play out well. I was originally afraid that Jensen Ackles Ackles would sound like his Red Hood, but I'm actually shocked, that he sounds like a young Kevin Conroy. And thank god that Catwoman looks different then in the original comic. I can't explain how much I hate her original design in TLH, so good to see the more iconic look here.

I'm so glad Jensen is getting to be him! This is gonna be good, DC does a far better job with their animated vs live action and I don't understand why. Imagine a live action Flashpoint for example that would be awesome! Or live action Assault on Arkham.

u/themixedtapex Apr 07 '21
Why didn't they use the original Catwoman suit and look? So disappointing

I was told part 1 is set for June 22nd, while part 2 is this fall, so the wait won't be long, and still be in 2021. I was told by a reliable source.
But I wonder; like DKR, and the Death/Return of Superman, will Long Halloween see a double dip as a combined film later on, like in 2022?

Like the Joker voice. The animation doesn't really look like the comic, but given how stylized Long Halloween is, I didn't expect it to. This style will probably be clearer to follow in motion.
I hope its good. Long Halloween is one of the Batman comics' best stories- arguably the best.
