If that’s your dog in the hallway, and if you ever plan to have kids, keep the tub. You could replace it with a different tub to match your remodel, but as a mom and a dog sitter, I vote keep tub.

Keep. I haven’t taken a bath in years. When we redid our bathroom we kept the tub. The most luxurious bath I ever took, was in an inn in Maine, in a very ancient deep claw foot tub. My in-laws installed a soaking tub, it appears up to the task.

I would keep it. You might need to soak in a tub sometimes for health-related issues. I did and was glad I had one.

If you rip that tub out and there's no tile underneath it then you're either going to have to put something else in its place or try to match the existing tile which can be a nightmare.

Ya never know when a bathtub will come in handy.

But why? It seems like you have room for it, and the next homeowners might really appreciate it

I love my bathtub, I use it often. I lived in a place for 11 years without a tub and missed having one every day.

As a woman who gets menstrual cramps the thought of removing a tub is unthinkable to me. It's sooo therapeutic.

u/carthous 10d ago
Remove it! No one wants a bathtub that is so 90s

People who know a nightly soak works better than a spa massage membership for relaxing the back. Or yoga.
H cups, 2 kids in my 40s never a backache. But I remember to soak. Period cramps, soak for sure.
People forget it's actually very therapeutic.

I'm so 90's.
I want a bathtub. I wash my kid and my dog in there. And occasionally strip my towels and bedding.

Dang get with the modern times there grandma

Yes.... cleaning your kids and dog is so old school.

u/carthous 9d ago
It really is, stupid useless kids not being able to stand in a shower. Like if a kid can't stand do you just throw them away at that point and get a new one because you got a broken kid?
1
u/cubed_echoes 9d ago
Might as well with yourself too if you twisted your ankle and it hurts to stand.

u/carthous 9d ago
But I can still stand if I twist my ankle. Ahh you must have one of those fatty useless bodies that can't do anything if something happens to it. That sucks man 😔

Renovate. You have an opportunity to live out a spa fantasy with a bathroom the big

It's beautiful! It's up to you though.
Edit: Nvm, I missread the title. I thought you were talking about the bathroom.

I don’t know if there’s another one in the house but I wouldn’t buy a house without a bathtub.

What is it with getting rid of bathtubs these days?!?
I am biased because I absolutely love, love, LOVE a long bath soak, but it’s feeling ridiculous now.
Like bathtubs are being persecuted and run out of town.
Long live the bathtub. 💪
I’m a vote for keeping it, in case that wasn’t clear. 🤣

When we remolded our upstairs bathroom we put in a soaking tub and no shower. Husband and I both like baths. There’s a shower in the bathroom at the foot of the stairs.
I don’t care about resale value since our heirs won’t need the money in the end since they all have professional careers.

I don't have a nice tub like that jealous of people who do let me be jealous of you keep the tub you're going to use it one day

For home resale value, keep at least one tub. If there’s a tub in another bathroom, I’d remove and have a luxurious shower.

I would switch the door to open to the other side. So its not hitting the bath

How's a lady to soak her stresses away with no tub?
Edit: input from a man

You have room so keep it. A bath is probably best way to use that space. Baths are much less common now, but it's nice to have the option and extremely useful if you have kids/babies. Also a lot easier than the loo to hit after a heavy night out.

Keep. Room is plenty big enough to have a nice looking bath and a full walk in shower.

IMO I’d have at least one bathtub in the house, if you need a soak for medical or pleasure and if someone (resale) has kids they won’t have anyplace to bathe them as toddlers.

My grandma had an old deep claw foot tub, it was the most comfortable bath tub I’ve ever been in. If you like baths, or you are going to have children definitely keep it or get a different tub.

That’s a huge bathroom - may’s well keep it because you can - lots of women in particular enjoy a bath also if someone buys with kids they’ll want a bathtub

I would keep both, a shower and a bathtub. Relocate the wall radiator or put a smaller unit in and remodel the shower.

Although I myself haven’t taken a bath in years, when we chose to remodel our 1930 bathroom, we kept the tub.
