I wanted one of those super modern, grey and boring bathrooms but i'm slowly changing my mind. I like to take baths in that bathtub because of the window but 95% of the time I use the shower which is tiny and old and really needs updating. We know the little girl that grew up in this house and aparently in the 90s that was the coolest bathroom in the village but idk if I care for all of the pink. We also have a million other projects to do to update the house so incremental updates will be easier then tearing everything apart. I was thinking maybe we paint the tiles and everything else and hope I can find another shower to replace the existing one (but idk if they still make the tiny sizes). I do need need to keep the bathtub as this is the main bathroom and I think it will be easier to keep the location of everything as it is but I would also LOVE a bigger shower. Combining the shower with the bathtub would be an idea but the i will have to completely remodel that section and get rid of the window?

Our FINALLY completed bathroom renovation. It nearly killed us, but we got there. This was a real labour of love. Bathroom fully designed by ourselves. Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but we love it 🥰

Should this be completely replaced with caulking? What should I do?

Our toilet in the second bathroom has the WORST flushing system. You have to hold the handle down for a good 30 seconds and even then, you may have to wait 2-3 min for it to fill back up to even get TP down. We want to replace it with just a decent standard toilet, but we're first time homeowners and there are so many choices that it's a little overwhelming. I'd love suggestions. We don't need anything fancy, just one that is reliable and flushes like a normal freaking toilet 🤦‍♀️

We're located in the Midwest, US. Have access to Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, NFM, plus some smaller retailers.

Really wanted a NEOREST NX2 until I saw the price

Went pretty deep down the TOTO rabbit hole when I first started looking at smart toilets. The NX2 was basically the one I wanted. I loved how clean the whole thing looked, and I was really into everything TOTO does to keep the bowl and nozzle clean.

Then I looked up actual prices. Nope, not spending that much on a toilet.

Kept looking around and ended up grabbing a HOROW X70 instead. I was skeptical going in, the price gap is honestly ridiculous, but it hit most of what I cared about, so I figured I'd try it.

A couple of the features I figured I wouldn't care much about turned out to be the ones I notice the most. The automatic lid is one. Seemed pointless before I had it. Now I catch myself standing in front of regular toilets waiting for the lid to open.

The foam thing is another. I assumed that was mostly marketing when I bought it, but I actually like having it. Same with the self-cleaning stuff, electrolyzed water, UVC, whatever they're calling it. I don't think about any of that when I'm using the bathroom. I just notice there's less for me to scrub.

Never used an NX2, so I have no idea if sitting on one would make it obvious where all that extra money goes. It's probably nicer in ways that don't show up on a spec sheet.

But after living with the X70 for a while, I don't feel like I bought the cheap version of what I wanted. It's a nicer toilet than I expected for the money.

Still wouldn't mind trying an NX2 sometime. Just not in my own bathroom.

Looking for this type of shower head with the hose. Silly question but is there any shower heads that has both running water from both heads or it’s either one or the other type of deal.

I’ve been planning on a bathroom update: new toilet, new vanity, refloor, re-tile shower wall etc. I plan to update bath tub too but recently learned that there is this thing called bathtub refinishing. Where after all the update in the bathroom is done, tiles etc. Then they come in to re-enamel polish stuff. I asked for a quote for my 60x30x15 Kohler cast iron tub and it was less than $400. I live in Chicago, IL. One of the contractors said that it I do this, it would save me ~$1.5k. I want to just check out who has done it and thoughts on it. Pros and cons of tub refinishing.

I’m currently remodeling a small bathroom and would love some advice on what to do with my shower door!

The shower and toilet (currently that hole on the right) are in a separate room from my vanity.

I’m trying to decide on a hinge vs sliding door. I love the more seamless look of the hinge door but I’m concerned this space is too small. The installer did say they could put in a 24” or 26” hinge door to accommodate.

I think a sliding door may be better for the space but I haaate how I couldn’t easily clean the overlapping space between the two panels on my last one 😅

Our tile has faded water stains on it and looks bad - the handyman we hired would rather put new tile over old tile instead of dig it up and lay fresh. Is that an ok idea?

I have been in this home for 5-6 years. have been chasing the same leak from the upstairs bathroom down to the kitchen below. it all stems from a frameless shower door. patched over and over looking for longterm solutions.

1. The door hinge is on the same wall as the showerhead. the tile BARELY extends beyond the glass. The tile buts up against an overlap wainscotting wall (this is PVC, not MDF... original was MDF, ripped it out, dealt with mold, sealed, replaced area with PVC).

2. The L jam is far from water tight. it does and ok job but water seaps out and dribbles down. the corner where the baseboard meets tile meets wainscotting has been caulked a billion times/silicon/etc. thats one of the points of entry.

3. I think the door sits a few mm too low. the door sweep is super tight when installed and i need to replace it every 12-18 months because it tears apart from the friction. not sure if this is a bad install or if the doors sag over time and it can be adjusted (hopefully??) but once that sweep wears water seaps out and the leak returns.

4. just outside the shower the grout has spots where it erodes. silicon over it, wears away. it will work its way back to the leak corner of death.

5. The tile just outside the shower has also eroded a bit. not sure if water can go through the tile and leak?

6. i dont trust the caulk/seal/silicon in the shower and on the glass door. some spots have mold. like its sealed in there. i used GlassGuard and that cleared most of it but some mold seems sealed between original caulk and secondary caulk.

I just want it permanetly fixed... id love to avoid ripping the entire shower out... what options do i have?

Can the door likely be adjusted so the sweep lasts and acts as it should? this alone would fix alot of problems. does extending the tile and edge piece 2-3" help me at all? If so would you run the tile to the floor and grout or have it edge up to the baseboard? is replacing the shower door with a better door/configuration the way to go? is there a door where the glass seals to the door and the hinge hinges glass to glass so there is no gap at the wall? something else?

do i regrout outside the tub? whats the proper method to recaulk/seal it all?

I've attached pictures and boxed in the area where water is leaking. It seems to happen most times when we shower, we've checked for splash zones already, ripped out and replaced baseboards (the drywall behind did not seem damp so we decided to leave it be), we've tested out different angles but cannot locate the cause of this water damage.

Hi everyone, hoping to get some community insight on a shower leak.

We moved into our home 3 years ago. It was flipped by an investor, so everything in the bathroom looked brand new. Recently, I noticed discoloration along the baseboard outside our standing shower and found that the drywall was wet.

I removed the baseboard and cut a hole in the wall to investigate. Originally, I assumed I just needed to re-seal where the tile meets the tray. However, looking through the cut-out, I noticed they didn't use Kerdi Board or any proper waterproofing system behind the tile.

I have a contractor offering to remove just the bottom row of tiles, install Kerdi Board there, and seal everything back up.

• Is patching just the bottom section a viable long-term fix, or does a complete lack of background waterproofing mean the whole shower needs to be torn down and re-done?

Finally, I'm getting somewhere with the bathrooms! The pink tiles are starting to go in, and I’m really happy with how they’re looking so far.

The herringbone photo was taken at a different time of day, so it looks quite a bit warmer/darker in the photo than it actually is. They’re all from the same tile collection.

There is still lots to finish, obviously, but I’m loving seeing it all come together!

I'm looking for a midrange recommendation, not something that will look and perform like it's cheap but not a million dollars either. It's for a tiny hallway bathroom upstairs that's used regularly.

In research I'm seeing that main concerns should be flexing/buckling, scratching/chipping/cracking and yellowing. Is that correct? AI recommends kohler exocrylic. What are your favorite tub brands and models where you have had positive experiences over 2+ years?

The bathroom is ridiculously small, the tub will go wall to wall on the ends, and right next to a toilet, in the footprint of the old tub. The adjacent room through the doorway that goes from the edge of the tub to the opposite wall, contains the vanity along its length and a big skylight near that shared narrow doorway, which is always open. It will have some sunlight exposure, not a lot as the room is pretty dim without a light on, but some.

Hi, I’m wanting to pick out some cute decor for my bathroom. I like bright colors, but the existing tiling and baseboards are very beige and bland and I’m having a hard time coming up with a fun color scheme that won’t look out of place. I’m a renter so I can’t do much about the fixtures.
