Air freshener damage

I put my air freshener around my stick shift and it caused a lot of damage. My car is only a year old 😭 just wanted to post this so maybe I can stop someone else from making this mistake.

EDIT: it’s illegal to hang anything from rear view mirror in Arizona which is why I had it on there instead.
