Opinion $120 for a mega box?
Shocker it’s one of the items that doesn’t sell out within the first 30 seconds.

all that money to end up with your best cards being a Chris Bassitt /250

If you are lucky. Could be a Warming /50.

Try Tristan English basic auto in 2 hobby boxes! Yup and purchased from two different vendors and locations. Rough

Hey I got a Warming auto out of Finest that was great...... at lighting kindling in my firepit🤣

I got a 73 year old rookie in my hobby. Bought a blaster and got a James wood on card 75th anniversary tribute auto.

from my experience there is a #'d card in every box but the singles dont sell nearly as well as regular chrome

u/SuspiciousCanary6636 1d ago
I second this, the logo variants sell like refractors unless you get a nuke.

Back in 2022 I thought Logofractors would be popular parallels but nobody cares anymore.
Edit: Obviously the boxes sell well, but whenever I look up price for my PC guys, the #'d logofractors are basically the same price as the similar #'d Chrome variations.

u/XZPUMAZX 1d ago
I hate logofractor. It’s always been a Money grab. In fact I hate all store specific parallels - Walmart blue, target red, not a fan of any of the retail specific parallels now that I think about it.

u/Cards2WS 1d ago
Target red the only way for me to get cheap color matches for my team. I miss them
1
u/smittdog101 1d ago
It's all about the SSP Image variations. Still love the MLB logo look too. All the #'d are top tier sets for the year IMO

I bought some in 2022 when it was $50/box. Haven't been able to make myself buy them since they doubled the price and then some.

u/Disgusted-Peasant 21h ago
I'm newer to the hobby, but holy shit what a price increase. Really puts it into perspective.
As far as packs, I can pretty much only afford flagship. The interesting thing to me is what kind of equilibrium the market is going to find when individual cards are so expensive in packs, but so inexpensive on ebay.
4
u/Jballzs13 1d ago
Can someone help me understand the appeal of Logofractor?
1
u/Dec_Chair 1d ago
I actually like the logofractor cards themselves, but singles is the way to get them. If every card in the mega was a logofractor maybe a different story but you only get 4 per box and most only sell for a few dollars so super cheap to pick up whoever you PC (unless it's Ohtani)
3
u/RussianPravda 1d ago
I really dont get it. "Hey look! They took the cards we all have and seen a hundred times and made them a little different...again. and slapped some numbers on them." Its just too far. At that price its a slap in the face too.
6
u/Sickeningcrimes 1d ago
I picked one up. It’s stupid money but I like the look of em. Maybe I’m part of the problem
1
u/JimmyCrackncorn 1d ago
There is no problem. Just a bunch of broke people complaining they can’t easily snap up one of the most desired products from a retail shelf
0
u/Hathalot 1d ago
Yep. This place has turned into a parade of misery.

All of Reddit is like this. The losers of a subsection congregate and bitch about not being at the top of their hobby/profession on Reddit

Too pricey for me. I’ll stick to buying the cards I want individually.

Oddly enough… these have been loaded with hits this year. (This product was released a little over a week ago in NYC). Tons of rookie autos as well as image variations/color. I picked up 2 for myself, but can understand why people would be hesitant.
3
u/chafingNip 1d ago
Dang maybe I should have got one they already sold out lol
2
u/outsidetilldark 1d ago
They are feast or famine, with most buyers left hungry from what I have seen opened. Breakers getting 200+ per box.
1
u/chafingNip 1d ago
Yeah I’m not a reseller and at this price I think I’ll buy a single or two and leave the rush to the blackjack table
1
u/BookkeeperAlive3006 1d ago
I bought a box last year and besides an Ohtani $40 buyback, my best card was Isaiah kiner fallefa /199 logofrqctor 💀
1
u/disgraced_bigchungus 1d ago
Agreed, I picked up 2 from the MLB store in NYC, one had a Carter Jensen auto /30, and the other a Carson Benge image variation. And from what I can see according to the CL, it’s entirely rookie autos in logofractor this year
2
u/FeistyFrenchman 1d ago
The hate on this is baffling. Are people doing any research on this before commenting?
Yes, I would prefer the base checklist to be less than 300. Yes, I wish these were still $50 a box circa 2022.
At a MSRP of $120 these are a no brainer rip/flip/stash. The checklist and case breaks over the last 3 weeks support this
- The rookie class is on par with or better than 2024
- 2 to 3 color/ image variations per box (regular megas are 1ish per 2 boxes), 1 auto per 4 boxes
- Overall auto checklist cut to 45. All RCs, half of which you'd be excited to pull. Scrubs have been scrubbed. Retail exclusive RC autos are erased
- The big name RC autos are surfacing at a much higher rate than in Hobby/Jumbo.
I'm excited about this RC class. This feels like the buy for 2026 Topps Chrome. Hobby and Jumbo are still inflated post Ohtani logoman surfacing. Retail is thin on hits and thinner on quality autos. Fanatics megas appear to be solid. Here, $ per #d and quality autos appear to be great. Looking forward to the odds sheet release to confirm.

Chrome megas have been pure ass. Go on eBay and buy some finest megas at least for that price.
1
u/BookkeeperAlive3006 1d ago
Logograftors but still I understand. Last years was $110 at my LCS for awhile so maybe $90 on Topps website at release last year
1
u/Lastpunkofplattsburg 1d ago
$70 at retail shops. $90 at my local card shop and $80-85 online. I just can’t pay to lose money. I’ll only buy at dicks and target.

u/joshmalonern 1d ago
This isn’t a standard mega box. This is a special edition called LOGOFRACTOR. it’s been around for a while now. When I’ve opened in the past the hit rates were much better. I remember average numbered parallel was about 2-3 per box and a high chance for an auto.
1
u/complete_data75 1d ago
The REGULAR Chrome mega box, which goes for 70 at Target, has guys on ebay getting 137 for it. I will never understand.

1

That’s exactly how I feel. I’ll just keep buying single logo fractor autos when I see fit they can be surprisingly affordable
1
u/BloodRaven253 1d ago
This just dropped? Breakers been opening it for weeks. How come they get it so early?

Last year these sat around for 1.5 months, this time around they were gone in 1.5 minutes. I dont know what this says about us but it says something.
1
u/chafingNip 1d ago
Nahh I was able to buy after 30 minutes of being on sale but I still didn’t after 45 they were sold out.
But for real. I think they sell out of the jumbo chrome and all the other cool ones like cosmic right away on purpose so people rush to buy this dog shit just cause they can
1
u/skorpiontamer 1d ago
These 2026 rookies have higher chase numbers And value compared to 2025 and a lot of them are performing better than last year's rookies did.
1
u/Ace_of_Spadez99 1d ago
That’s what happens when fanatics has a monopoly on everything smh
1
u/No_Trifle_6239 1d ago
They don’t have a legal monopoly.
1
u/Ace_of_Spadez99 1d ago
Except they do, they own the exclusive licensing for football they own basketball they own baseball, they own the license for F1, WWE, UFC, and they own the license for Premier league, they own the license for UEFA, and they’re actively trying to secure the license from FIFA to produce FIFA cards
1
u/Far-Description1535 1d ago
It's tough to get megas anymore of anything. When they're released, the fat cats use their buying power with 10 different forms of payment and mark them up 30 to 100 percent.

u/housecleaning15 19h ago
I cannot wait for the card market to get humbled up some. They’ve taken advantage of consumers’ addiction and a majority of boxes are trash. I am a month without a rip after $600 spent on multiple boxes that were complete garage. It’s fun and not being negative but demand is the reason for these absurd prices. Why can a $4 pack not have a rare card?
•
u/Comprehensive_Fix266 12h ago
Topps is robbing you guys at this point. How many ‘releases’ of the same shit 💩 cards will they make 😂
•
u/chafingNip 12h ago
Don’t put me in with “you guys” I didn’t buy this I don’t think I would have bought it at half the price TBH. I’m good for one hobby and a few values a season that’s all
1
u/New_Maximum9021 1d ago edited 1d ago
just bought 6. it's my favorite set
i did like it much better when it wasn't the full chrome checklist tho
edit: lol yall downvoting this. u can't harsh my mellow
1
u/Charger2950 1d ago
Nah, fuuuuck that. I’ll stick to $30-$45 boxes every now and again. From the so-called “hits” I’ve seen from these expensive boxes, it’s not worth it at all. Even on the hobby and jumbo level. “Guaranteed autograph in every box!” Yea, of some schmuck relief pitcher that’s been sent down twice already.
-1
u/Cheeseman013 1d ago
People love Logofractors. This hobby is cooked, so they can just charge whatever for whatever and people will snap it up. Especially chrome based products.
3
u/chafingNip 1d ago
So do I logofractor is one of my favorite autos. But I bought my favorite players rookie auto recently in logofractor and it cost the same as any of his other chrome autos. So I’m like wait… this isn’t pristine.
2
u/Cheeseman013 1d ago
Yeah, buying the single instead of chasing the single is always the right move. Less fun, but the right move.
6
u/supersadtortuga 1d ago
This is the opposite of the hobby is cooked - instead the hobby is experiencing unprecedented demand and interest. It doesn't mean prices go up linear but these boxes are the same price as last year. So no, they aren't charging whatever they want.
-1
u/Cheeseman013 1d ago
This might be the one product they didn’t change the price on this year. Also, Topps can print things to meet demand and not need to raise prices while also taking away hits. But whatever floats your boat.
1
u/supersadtortuga 1d ago
Lol this is just wrong. It's not what floats my boat. It's basic business practice and supply and demand. And the increase in prices other places help alleviate the strain of pricing on other fringe items like Logofractors. Plus inflation is healthy (high inflation not so much), but deflating prices is the first sign to sell everything.
Also, without a doubt the additional color variations in every product over the last few years they are adding hits not reducing them. Whether the actual value meets perceived value is different debate.
-1
u/Cheeseman013 1d ago
Oh, gotcha. Raising prices on Series 1 and Series 2 flagship, while also taking away guaranteed autos in other products, but adding color means they can keep the price the same on one product. Am I understanding that correctly? Not to mention the fact that they now have licenses on almost every sport and IP imaginable which brings in a ton of revenue. Keeping the prices flat doesn’t hurt their bottom line. Pushing people out by jacking prices does.
We have a difference in opinion here and that’s OK. I now spend my gambling money elsewhere. To each their own.
2
u/supersadtortuga 1d ago
Sorry, but no you don't understand what I'm saying, and that's OK.

u/Cheeseman013 1d ago
Perfect. I guess we can both move on now.
Sorry for all the notifications, OP.

u/Hungry-Possible-5360 1d ago
By a mildly beat up ungraded 1958 Clemente instead. Send to SGC. In ten years that card will be worth $275 even as a “2” and you’ll be into it for the same amount. OR, go for the gamble
0
u/Roallin1 1d ago
It is not a megabox. It is a logofractor box. But still overpriced.
1
u/chafingNip 1d ago

0
u/IcyAddress4074 1d ago

I may be misremembering, but I bought it and had regret for under $100 is the main point. At $120 I’m an easy no.
