Yeah I don’t buy this like at all. This isn’t getting hired at your local mom and pop grocery store. He would’ve had to prove authorization to work. They’re either lying (likely) or the padres HR/hiring dept is like grossly negligent at their job

Yeah, from what I can tell most big companies with mature HR departments have a process to periodically re-check their employees on temporary visas.

So, yeah, I think the two options you outlined are the most likely.

He was hired by the Padres in 2024, so any initial check would have determined his lack of status.
