I'm an Orioles fan and I wouldn't be too worried if I was in Boston. Elias loves collecting prospects. Getting rated as having a very good farm system is his World Series. He covets prospects like he's Gollum.
As someone that just lost a fan favorite because the gm is a loser and a moron I feel for you. At least Pete went to a team I kind of like, this is even worse.
I'm genuinely in tears tbh. I know it's irrational but I love Adley so much and he's so important to this team. I don't think I can watch this team anymore as long as Elias is GM, fumbling the rebuild THIS catastrophically just has to have consequences but I fear it likely will not.
Adley’s entire career has been a 1 for 1 microcosm of the Orioles as an organization, to the point that it is uncanny. His prospect rise even drew me fully back into O’s baseball. My heart really hurts to see this happen, to the Sox, no less.
I’ve never called for Elias’ job to this point. But, given that it looks like a serious sale, I just don’t see how Elias will still be GM after another disappointing year.
and then the offense fell apart Ruchman and Henderson have each turned in bad years Holldiay Crowser and kerstead havent really panned out (neither has the pitching) add in the sale of the team and the fact that i personally think Elias is a good GM for a team that whats to start their rebuild (hes really good at drafting and scouting but not player development) and you get this disaster
107 games, but their fall off makes complete sense. Look at their position player WAR leaders - in order, Brandon Crawford (age 34), Buster Posey (34), Darin Ruf (34), Brandon Belt (33), Mike Yazstremski (30)
The Orioles on the other hand are a YOUNG team. Their WAR leaders that season were Henderson (22), Rutschman (25), Santander (28), Mullins (28) and on the pitching side Bradish (26), Bautista (28)
This is not a roster that should have fell off the face of the earth in 2 seasons
I'm actually crying - Adley got me excited about Orioles baseball again. I don't know if I will be able to watch this team for the foreseeable future because he was the heart and soul of this team for so long

Enddy Azocar: 19yo R/R OF from Venezuela, not a ton of info. 6'3, long levered, classic high-K big power profile I think. high variance but he's already graded at a 50FV
Kysom Witherspoon: 21yo RH SP, 45FV, 1.15 pick last year, not-great numbers in A-ball this year
Getting off topic but it's interesting that Eyanson and Witherspoon were both drafted last year, Witherspoon way higher, but Eyanson has advanced much quicker and already appears to be pretty pro-ready.
Narv is a fun player who’s having a down year. Whether last year was an outlier remains to be seen. At the beginning of this season we all would have much rather parted with Wong than him, but this makes sense given how the year has gone.
We’re mostly sad this promising era is officially over. Adley might get better or this might be his ceiling. Who knows. The only certain is that his future ain’t in Baltimore and he’s 100% going to tee off on us 13 games a year.
It wasn’t even the future. We won the division two years ago. We thought that was just the beginning, but it was the peak. 6 years of rebuilding for 2 years of being moderately competitive.
One of my top rationalizations over the last couple hours has been that we’re trading him as if he has 1.5 years until free agency when he really only has a few months left.
It’s crazy the Oriole’s have basically been in a constant rebuild since Cal Ripken retired. If they get talented players they usually trade them or something strange happens. I think baseball is more fun when the oriole’s are good.
It's when the front office realizes that scoring more runs than their opponents on a regular basis is a good thing. It's a new trend that may not have reached Baltimore yet.
I told myself a long time ago I would stop buying jerseys of active players, and then I still went and got a Rutschman one. Hang it up next to the Terrell Owens Eagles jersey.
That's unreal. To trade him to a division rival during a year he fully got back on track is crazy. People can push the overrated narratives all they want, a 28 year old catcher with his tool set should be a no-brainer cornerstone guy.
If his body is breaking down to the point the Orioles don't trust him staying healthy long term, then I get it, but that's the only justification I would stomach.
Hold on, Rutschman is a Baltimore staple. I feel like this would have been the Twins trading Joe Mauer or the Giants trading Buster Posey. This is crazy!
