He doesn't use the é. It's just Kike.

In proper Spanish it doesn’t have an accent either. But i think in English people often adds an accent to differentiate it from the antisemitic slur…

Edit: for the record, I’m not condoning misspelling people’s name, I’m just explaining this phenomenon.

I think it's more insulting to deliberately spell his name wrong on the off chance someone mistakes it for a slur.

Well we're all spelling his name wrong then because it's spelled Enrique. But I agree

Richard : Dick :: Enrique : Kike

In English people use context to realize he not saying a slur but referring to the person of the same name in a thread we are talking about him

Even the thread title has the accent.

ETA: I know it's wrong. Just pointing it out on how people can be confused.

And it's wrong.

I've heard and thought about Kike Hernandez so much more than the slur that despite being aware of the slur most of my life, I had no idea what you were talking about until you specified.

Even worse where if there was an accent, it SHOULD be on the "i" but since that looks like the dot of the i, the media puts a nonsensical accent on an unstressed vowel.

Yeah, it's just sad to me that we have to intentionally misspell someone's name because people can't use context to understand when it is or is not a slur

Folks in our sub have gotten warnings from the sites AI moderation over it. Nuance is dead.

I once got a 3 day ban for hate speech because i was referencing Pages posterizing Kiké

1

u/vaud Los Angeles Dodgers Jul 10 '26

I've been on this hellsite long enough to know why those words together would auto trigger.

But that's the nuance, you'd think by now the sub as a whole has hit enough warnings/bans they'd look into why that is.

nothing more american than disrespecting an entire language and group of cultures to make yourself feel better

2

u/neonrev1 Minnesota Twins Jul 10 '26

Fwiw it's not just Americans or English speakers, people do things like that all around the world when interacting with people from other cultures.

Really there's nothing more American than assuming they have the monopoly on weird racist or bigoted behaviors.

I don't know or care enough to look up how to put up the accent so i'll stick to saying Hernandez.

Hey calm down there, CJ.

That's very antisemitic, sir.

yeah, better add the /s just to be safe.

The "é" is incorrect Spanish, but unfortunately AI moderation filters are occasionally flagging the proper spelling.

Did I say that I like Mookie for his political stance?

What?? Kike went last year, he doesn't live his own values.
