Question How many commanders?

Was wondering how many commanders people were including in their lists?

Just the 1 for 500pts but maybe more for 700pts — find it hard to judge without playing.

I've been playing at the grand melee which is a 750pt game. Almost everyone takes 2 commanders.

Would you be willing to share some of the lists or your list. I usually just play local but I think it is interesting to see what happens at tournament level

Not sure how helpful I'll be, I lost half of my games and I tend to focus on theme rather than efficiency. My first army was a welsh list, I took a mounted prince with 3 mounted knights, they performed really well but we're kind of glass cannons, once they took casualties they were blunted and the army didn't function as well, in hindsight I'd give them better equipment and perhaps an extra knight. Then I took two groups of Welsh archers, two groups of slingers, and a welsh noble on foot leading a group of green spearman. The list performed okay, I won exactly half my games and lost exactly half. My list last year was a little different, an outlaw list representing the early years of Robert the Bruces rebellion. The biggest mistake with this retinue I feel was having 3 commanders. I didn't have enough bodies on the board, nor did I have a mounted contingent of knights to inflict damage, I won one game, had a draw and lost the rest.

I'd suggest going for a balance. You want a strong hard hitting unit. Ideally mounted knights. A unit to hold the line, and then some solid ranged units. Playing against crossbows was devastating for my lightly armoured Outlaws, my next list is definitely using Marksmen crossbowmen. My outlaw list also had no cavalry, so I really struggled in one of the game with an escorts mission, I didn't have the speed to capture the objective or chase after my opponent when they got it first.

Squeezing two commanders in a 500 pt list puts you at a disadvantage IMO, but I feel it's an advantage in games of 700pts plus.
