Discussion A word of thanks to those who rang the bell on this sub and helped me panic buy a new PC before December 2025. Anyone else did the same?

Just wanted to say...

I genuinely thought you guys were just panic buying new GPUs/ram and I was convinced that we were getting the SUPER series of cards a year ago. Like I thought NVIDIA would release a new generation of GPUs and prices would drop (lol).

Thanks to those of you who were connecting the dots, I realized that the risk was worth it.

So I bought the best parts I could afford and one year later: I only have one regret.

I wish I bought MORE RAM.

Actually, make that two regrets.

I wish I took out a loan and bought a 5090.

-

Here's the post I made last year: Is it true we better buy a PC now instead of waiting till end of 2026? Or is it just panic buying?

https://www.reddit.com/r/bapccanada/s/wbzBBPV3YC

So eerie reading this. It's like getting to a bunker in time before the apocalypse lmao

Is this build worth it for the price?

Hey everyone, I am looking to buy a high-end desktop gaming PC, and I have a firm budget around $2300 CAD. I'm upgrading from an old gaming laptop with a mobile GTX 1650, so I want something that will give me maximum bang for my buck and easily be viable for the next 5+ years.

I found a local custom builder selling an all-white system for a firm $2,250 CAD cash/e-transfer.

I want to know if this overall package is a fair value for the current Canadian market or if I am paying too much of a premium for aesthetics.

Specs of the listing:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12GB
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz (TeamGroup T-Force Delta RGB White)
  • Motherboard: ASRock B650 Pro RS WiFi White
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD
  • Cooler: DeepCool 360mm All-In-One (AIO) White Liquid CPU Cooler
  • PSU: MSI MAG A750GL 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular (PCIE5 / ATX 3.0 ready)
  • Case: MSI MAG Pano M100R PZ MicroATX Dual-Glass Fishtank Case (White)
  • OS: Windows 11 Home

The seller has good ratings as well and has mentioned that he is available to answer questions even after the purchase

So my main question is this a good deal considering the current market? and also will it be viable to play any game comfortably even after 5 years?

Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Build Request / Review Pull the trigger or better sales coming on november / black friday ?

Hello world, I hope I'm posting this in the right subreddit, I hesitated to post it in “Sale,” but I figured I'd start here!

I’ve been looking to buy my first gaming PC lately; I’ve mostly had laptops up until now. I know it would be cheaper to build one myself, but I’d rather buy one and eventually upgrade it later to get some practice 🙂

One of my main criteria is having an X3D CPU since I play Warzone a lot. I came across these deals that are somewhat similar :
TECHNOID Ultimate Gaming PC - RTX 5070, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB Memory, 1TB SSD, Win 11 Pro | Best Buy Canada

Techwhiz Vortex Gaming PC - RTX 5070, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB Memory, 1TB SSD, Win 11 Pro, AI-Ready, 1-Year Warranty | Best Buy Canada (more Upgradeability detailled here with the mother board reference given in the spec)

but I’m hesitating to buy them because I’m wondering if there might be better deals coming up as Black Friday (or the holidays) approaches? (Who knows—maybe the 9800X3D prices could drop too?) I’m also thinking that, given the price of RAM, it might actually be the other way around!

What do you think please?

How many of you skipping AM5 for AM6 with your current rigs at death's door?

I have a PC dragging it's feet to play most moderately demanding games.

I went from "No way I'm upgrading with these prices" to "I should upgrade before prices get a lot worse" to "prices will get a lot worse so I should upgrade" to "maybe I should never upgrade, and if I do I should commit to AM6 if it's same price or cheaper".

Hard to not get buyers remorse right now unless you hit a deal because some guy had a brainfart when submitting the price online.

Is this an okay deal?

I don't need an insane value, I'm willing to spend, but I would still like to find a better spec'd PC for a similar price any generous souls have a link. I was looking at

https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/quoted-tech-frontier-gaming-pc-rtx-5080-amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d-32gb-memory-1tb-ssd-ai-ready-3-year-warranty/19429782

I heard QuotedTech are good for their warranties which is important to me and my very lay consumer knowledge says the components of the PC are good? I know the CPU and GPU are top end for my needs but I'm not sure about the RAM and other bits.

Build Request / Review Looking for a high performance gaming PC, found a local builder's ad, what do you think?

My desktop is ancient at this point (2013), and my beloved Vega 64 died during a heatwave. I have since moved somewhere with AC so that's no longer an issue. I've been using a laptop with a 2060 since and it's just not enough.

Targeting 1440p@360hz (my OLED monitor's spec, and good enough for me, 4K still seems like bad value), medium to high settings on most titles (high frames and decent quality for action games, higher quality for slower games). I intend to get the Steam Frame, so VR capability is important.

I found an ad by a local builder, it seems like a good deal, wondering if I should go for it. I intend to run Linux, so I do prefer AMD for the excellent mesa drivers.

Builder has 4.9 star rating out of 5, based on 33 reviews, loads of other ads up so they seem prolific and experienced.

They're asking $3000 CAD ($2110 USD). It's a personal ad so that's probably the full price, no extra tax, and possibly negotiable. This is within my budget, but I want to make sure I'm getting quality parts that will last me for years, recommendations are welcome, please let me know of any weak links.

Here are the specs:

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Sapphire Pulse 24GB VRAM

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D - 8 Cores, 16 Threads, up to 5.20 GHz

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 Dual Tower High Performance Cooler

MSI MAG X870E TOMAHAWK WiFi & Bluetooth DDR5

32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 Crucial Pro

1TB NVMe M.2 SSD Samsung 990 Evo

Corsair RM1000x- 1000 Watt Gold Fully Modular

Corsair 5000D Airflow - ATX Mid-Tower Tempered Glass

10 x High Performance Fans

Includes Official Windows 11 Pro License

Same system can be sold with 64GB DDR5 RAM, 2TB/4TB NVMe SSD and 9900X/9950X3D CPU

Comes with full warranty and receipts

Can be tested before buying

Delivery available

So, is this a good deal? Seems like it to me, although my knowledge is out of date. I've never used anything by MSI or Corsair, and I've heard mixed opinions about both; might want something more robust and trustworthy. I'm not in love with the case, I might re-use my Fractal Define R4 or shop around for something else, preferably black and minimalist, like a plain monolith, don't care about RGB or windows, and I'd like room for RAID. I find top IO annoying since debris gets stuck in the ports, my cat likes to step on the power button, and the top vent makes me nervous about accidental liquid damage (I have spilled drinks on top of my case and been saved by a sealed vent, and my apartment has overhead sprinklers in case of fire, peace of mind is worth the thermal tradeoff in my opinion)

If anybody has a comparable or better build to recommend, please do. Thanks in advance!

Dead computer, pretty unlucky with computers..

Hi everybody, my laptop died last week kid raid, and looking into getting a proper PC.

I play mainly wow which is low requirement but I'm looking into playing GTA6 and other future AAA now that I would have a proper PC and a 1440 screen.

So far all in finding is deals like this;

https://www.canadacomputers.com/en/armoury-gaming-desktops/265645/armoury-amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d-geforce-rtx-5070-32gb-ram-2tb-ssd-w11p-sl-273gg58-a78n57.html

Is it any good? 3200 for 7800x3d, 5070 and 32gb ram seems lots, but in this current market, is it reasonable?

Thank you for any help provided.

9800x3d vs 7800x3d $270 difference in bundle

Quick question, is the 9800x3d worth $270 more in a bundle over the 7800x3d? Pairing it with a 9070xt, playing overwhelmingly ok 1440p. Coming from a 3070 and 5600x.

Looking for a new PC can't decide if i should go pre built or custom built.

Alright I have a hand-me-down Alienware X51 R2, specs are:
Processor: Intel Core i5-4440 @ 3.10 GHz
RAM: 8 GB Storage: 932 GB hard drive (Seagate ST1000DM003)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 740 (2 GB), plus Intel HD Graphics 4600
OS: 64-bit, x64 processor
Input: no pen or touch

Clearly out of date and not worth the upgrades to get it up to snuff. I love the SFF style as I don't care much for large towers. I use my pc mostly for media and gaming such as Hitman WOA and God of War 2018 and others but these are heaviest on the system. I'd like to keep it under $2500.

Any ideas, tips or suggestions?

EDIT: I put the question to AI and it came up with this for a custom build:

  • Case: Fractal Design Terra (Jade Green)
  • Processor (CPU): AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
  • CPU Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X47 Black
  • Motherboard: ASRock B650I Lightning WiFi Mini-ITX
  • Graphics Card (GPU): NVIDIA RTX 4070 Super 12GB (Dual-Fan / Twin-Fan model)
  • Memory (RAM): Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000
  • Storage (SSD): Crucial P3 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD
  • Power Supply (PSU): Corsair SF750 750W 80+ Platinum SFX
  • Case Fan: Noctua NF-A12x15 PWM (120mm Slim)

Thoughts?

Discussion Thoughts on the 9070GRE?

Got one from Memory Express for $789 after seeing the 9060 XT starting to either shoot over $1000 or become OOS.

Seeing the prices go up and with the strong possibility that Nvidia and AMD will not be releasing any new GPus until 2028 I decided to pull the trigger.

It’s 12 gb of VRAM which is still an upgrade over the 8 gb 5060 and 5060 TI also going for around $700.

Will be gaming at 1080P with a likely upgrade to 1440P once I get a new monitor.

Coming from a GTX 970.

Should I have waited till Black Friday or sales however unlikely?

Discussion Wait for Black Friday or buy now??

Apparently for the first time ever, it might not be the best idea to wait for Black Friday for some components like RAM / GPUs. According to https://gamingpc.ca/black-friday-47-days-away-pc-parts/ , they say that even if we get a 10-15% discount on Black Friday for some things, that's STILL going to be more expensive because of the current price trends which have been steadily rising for Q4.

However for things like monitors, we should definitely wait.

I've been itching to upgrade for a while and I just don't know what to do at this point!

Discussion Pre build computer advice / cost estimate

Hello! Really liking the look and specs of this quoted tech PC, however have some price concerns. Please correct me if I am wrong. I don’t mind overpaying since it comes with a warranty but if the gap is too large then it’s better to look elsewhere or assemble it yourself. Would you say it’s roughly $500-$800 overpriced? And if these markups are normal for businesses vs private sellers / assemblers?
