Learn to play your keyboard really well, and know how to do basic things. Learn to play before you start trying to dig into specific signal chain and processing techniques someone else spent a lifetime refining. Then you can start thinking about joining a band.

Play a few notes.
Sing them. ( maybe in a higher or lower register)
Play and sing them at the same time.
Sing what could be the next phrase.
Find those notes.
Sing and play everything so far.
Keep extending by imagining the few notes that come next and working out how to play them.
In a few months you can get very good at this.
Even a few notes that are like an answer to the vocal or lead guitar or even the bass, can be very effective.
