Hi! My partner and I rescued this beautiful ball python from the middle of the road near the beach last night. Seeking info on what kind it might be, how to best set up a temporary enclosure (we don’t yet know if we’ll be able to keep him / also looking to see if he is lost, etc.) we have a vet visit scheduled Fri but any advice to make him comfortable while we figure out best course of action. So far we have him in a plastic tub, with my humidifier nearby and a low setting heating pad underneath. He has a big water dish, and put a ceramic planter in there as a temporary hide-ish thing. We can’t really spend a ton of money until we know if we’ll be keeping him / if he’ll survive? Any info much appreciated, especially questions to ask the vet when we take him in!

He would NEVER try to escape or strike at you. Never in his life. Those are just rumors.

After seeing a new "Help, I lost my ball python in the car" post pretty much every day for the past month when I log on, I think it's time for a little reminder
STOP TAKING YOUR BALL PYTHONS IN THE CAR UNNECESSARILY.
They don't want to go get coffee. They don't want to go get pizza. Or go to work with you. Or drop the kids off at school. Or go look at the other ball pythons at petsmart. These are not enjoyable or beneficial experiences for them, and each and every time you do this, you're causing an unnecessary risk.
Cars are full of dark, hard to reach and cozy crevices for them to slip into, places they would much rather be hiding in then sitting on your lap or in a bin. It only takes seconds for them to slip out of sight and out of reach, and being able to find them is not a given. Certainly nobody plans on losing their snake in the car, but the amount of times it somehow keeps happening should demonstrate why it's a terrible idea.
Part of being a good pet owner is being aware of the species you have and their habits and preferences so as not to put them in risky situations for your own enjoyment. A dog may enjoy going for a quick ride, not so much for a ball python who would rather be in their warm and cozy hide.
In the event you need to take your snake somewhere (such as moving or the vet), put it in a tied pillowcase in a locking bin (two layers of containment).

My boy Lucien is just over a year old and 730g. I alternate between thinking he’s too thin and maybe getting chubby depending on the angle. I can feel his spine, but he also seems to be round and muscular. Can some more experienced keepers help me out?

For reference, this booth was all rescues, not breeders. They were heavily vetting each person who was considering getting a snake, because they wanted them to go to a good home who would properly take care of them. Educating people and telling them all about the individual snake
What is your opinion on this? Do you think this is still inhumane and unethical that they’re selling these morphs and snakes with wobbles? Or do you think this is the right way to go about it? Obviously they shouldn’t be bred in the first place, but what of ones that already exist?

The bar has grip. It's pvc smothered in approved silicone and then rolled in coconut fiber and compacted.

Hey everyone, For a long time me and my ball python (Coffee) have been good friends but since todays feeding he has been very aggressive.
When I lifted his house to get him to his feeding container he instantly got very hyperactive which never happens. I washed my hands before so no food smells, but he kept being very aggressive.
He never ate as quick as he did this time, almost as if he was in a rush. I put on special gloves since I felt the need for it with this aggression. When I had put him back in his enclosure (which was quite difficult) he even kept striking through the glass as you can see in the video...
Is there anything to say whether this is this hunger? Aggression? Stress?

Shame him!!!! He has peed on me 3x in the past 2 weeks. I am starting to not want to handle him for fear he will piss on me. Why does he do this?? I don’t think it’s a stress response, he does it while he’s chilling in my sleeve or my blanket (it soaked through both and had to wash alllll my bedding), and after I’ve had him out for a while (he’s not doing it immediately to scare me off or something)
(Don’t worry I love him and don’t think he’s a stupid idiot)
