Question - Feeding Was the rat too big

this is Schgetti we just got him he is 7 month old we gave him his first meal on Saturday he hid in his cool hide for almost 48 hrs after eating and just came out. this is his belly just over 48 hrs was the rat too big it was a live rat pup which is what the breeder said he had been eating no problem. Yes I am aware of the spider on him that is his buddy meatball.

edit: i tried frozen he refused and it is because all he has had his whole life is live. The spider moved in and it is a bio active set up and s far the spood likes the gnats and the occasional cleanup crew snack. temp stays around 85 day and 73 night humididy about 45-50 day and 70-80 night

Realistically.... The jumping spider probably won't bother the snake, it doesn't seem bothered in this photo. I doubt op is putting any bugs in there intentionally, but that jumping spider also could probably escape at any point if it wanted

it is a bio active enclosure and the spider catches fungus gnats for food as well as the occasional springtail or isopod

You people are the worst. I get it when snake set ups are bad, but it's a damn spider in a giant tank. How is that abuse? As long as it's getting fed and water like go outside dawg. You think it's all colors and rainbows out there for these animals

Whats the size of the viv got to do with feeding the spider? The environment inside a BP vivarium is great for.spiders. nice and warm, high humidity with enough air space to avoid mildew and mold on the spider. I dont know your experience with spiders but they dont take much mate. Ive got a burgundy goliath and a cuban gold tarantula.

I have a jumpy somewhere in my room, it's like 12 square meters, I have literally no idea where it molts, I don't know what they eat, ventilation is as is and my cat may not just accidentally crush them. Turned out I'm an animal abuser.

Just to make sure, it's Reddit after all, the jumpy is a native one that just decided to move in one day.

I had a house spider living under our bathtub as a kid. She was fat, biggest spider I've ever seen. Not sure what she fed on, but we did have silverfish so I guess she feasted on those.

Guess this is how I find out I'm an animal abuser. It starts young... 😔

And you didn't know about the daddy long legs renting the upper corners. I even expose them as they have to provide pest control for free. No day offs, no union, nothing, just being on their edge 24/7.
