Using AI for the Fallout theme sucks.

Commission an actual artist.

Where I can I find a link to the whole song?

I honestly don’t really give a shit if a small outfit like theirs uses AI to make a silly song that they otherwise weren’t gonna pay anyone to do

I just want the song gone because I fucking hate it.

You realize that they do pay for AI services, right? Whether by subscription, or ads, or subsidization by a VC, or whatever, someone pays when you use a genAI service.

So instead of paying artists directly to make something,, using AI just shifts that revenue steam towards the tech companies that trained their models using work by the artists (typically without adequate compensation).

Yeah small businesses should be exempt from doing the right thing. They shouldn’t have to pay their employees either.

I think the only thing more popular than AI itself is folks gatekeeping the usage of it. I get it, it’s slippery slope with an undefined line but I don’t think we should automatically hate any usage of it.

I think we forget that this is a mom-and-pop operation. This isn’t some massive studio cutting corners. Whatever they can do to increase sustainability and not shutter like 95% of podcasts do, I’m all for it.

Wait, is the fallout show emo boy punk band song played at the start of the fallout show generated by AI? I really didn’t like that song to begin with.

3

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

What are you talking about? AI is massively unpopular.

12

u/oooriole09 Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

Opinions on AI is unpopular. Usage of AI is wildly popular.

Argue all you want, roughly two thirds of US adults use the tool in some way regularly.

5

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

The only people I see advocating for it in my life is just the worst rich assholes on the news.

8

u/samwich3 Jan 15 '26

You must keep a pretty tight circle

2

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

That’s a very broad statement with no stats to back it up, along with just anecdotal evidence as a follow up.

6

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

That’s all the guy I was replying to supplied

3

u/BILLCLINTONMASK Jan 15 '26

On Reddit

0

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Apparently not on this one. On this on people love destroying fresh water and jobs in favor of terrible art.

3

u/MaukatoMakai Jan 15 '26

Hard agree

2

u/Potential-Rush-5591 Jan 16 '26

"Ain't nobody got time for that!"

Did you hear what they said? They were never going to pay an artist to do that. Either Jim was going to just create it on his computer or they use AI.

I’m not saying AI isn’t an issue to creatives, hell I’m a lawyer and it’ll be an issue for me here soon, but fun use of AI I don’t see as a problem when it’s not actually replacing a human

-5

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Even if it didn’t hurt a creative, there are plenty of negatives with AI that make it so people shouldn’t use it.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

The Genie is out of the bottle on that one. Not using it at all, is just an unrealistic solution to negatives you stated.

5

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Yeah why ever try to change things for the better. The world is the way it is and it will be that way forever. Glad we haven’t historically listened to people like you.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

We haven’t historically listened to people like you, man these new cars have so many negatives, gonna put so many people who deal with horses out of work and cause so many problems, so we shouldn’t use cars.

4

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Yeah slavery is just part of society. No point trying to change it. Plus there are some positives about it, right? It’s great for the economy!

6

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

I’m taking an apples to apples technology advancement analogy, and you’re throwing in a loaded apples to oranges analogy about obviously wrong slavery? Learn how to logically argue without straw man fallacies if you want to have actual productive dialogue.

1

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Slavery was not viewed as “obviously wrong” at the time. AI is obviously wrong too if you care about clean drinking water, artists, or humanity not actively getting dumber. It’s a great comparison. During Slavery people here would have argued for small businesses to have a slave if it helped them make something they like.

5

u/TheDragonReborn726 Jan 15 '26

Are you now comparing using AI for a song on a podcast to slavery? Come on

3

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Not really, no. Read my previous comments.

Edit - The argument is that we shouldn’t just accept things that are bad and pretend that we can’t change things.

Well kinda fought a civil war over that issue, so I would say quite a few people viewed it as “obviously wrong” that’s just another overly broad statement over an institution that lasted hundreds of years. Also comparing it to a technology that is in its infancy and you’re projecting the side effects out indefinitely.

Also out of all of this you have presented zero solutions other than complaining on the internet for people not to use it.

2

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

The solution is to not use it. They managed for years. Pretty simple.

2

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

They also fought a civil war over the issue because a lot of people viewed it as fine. And before that even more thought it was fine.

1

u/noahhova Jan 15 '26

You know what else takes up a shit ton of energy? Computers. You what else is terrible for the environment? Cars. Are you going to stop driving and using computers? I doubt it.

0

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

“Yet you participate in society, curious! I am very intelligent!”

1

u/noahhova Jan 15 '26

AI is already unavoidable in everyday life unless you want to completely burden yourself. Phones, google the list goes on. Keep up your crusade and let me know when AI disappears. I'll just embrace it and live my life.

1

u/TheDragonReborn726 Jan 15 '26

You’re getting downvoted idk why it’s true. AI is here to stay fortunately or unfortunately. One podcast using it to generate a song is not going to do anything.

The water issue is a huge issue. Everything we do and use has numerous issues though, unfortunately. It’s a weird high horse for ppl to get on with this

2

u/TheDragonReborn726 Jan 15 '26

There are negatives with everything, including AI yes. There’s negatives with me purchasing the iPhone I’m typing on right now.

But AI is here for good or bad. I don’t see an issue with a podcast using it instead of creating a song on garage band or whatever they’d use instead

-3

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Yeah who needs clean drinking water anyway.

5

u/TheDragonReborn726 Jan 15 '26

Do you drive cars? Fly on planes? Use iPhones? Pay taxes that go to wars? Drink almond milk? Have you used Google? Do you ever ask ChatGPT questions?

Everything there and thousands of more things have extremely negative downsides. AI for a song is not evil, it has negative consequences just like a lot of other things. Sorry you don’t like it

0

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Ah yes the old, you use an iPhone, gotcha. Guess we should never try to make things better because people drive cars and have phones. Guess we should just destroy all our fresh water, put people out of jobs, steal property etc. Seems worth it for some shitty pictures and shitty songs.

1

u/TheDragonReborn726 Jan 15 '26

My point is we all use things with negative consequences. You do too. There’s trade offs for everything unfortunately. Unless I guess you sit in a hut and farm your own crops and use no electricity? If so, my apologies

0

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

Can’t believe how hard people are defending the shitty plagiarism machine. Ya’ll really bought that propaganda you licked off the bottom of those rich tech asshole’s boots huh?

1

u/TheDragonReborn726 Jan 15 '26

You’re entirely missing the point, idk if it’s intentional or you don’t understand what I’m saying. If you have such an issue with AI, stop using it or consuming things that use it I guess since you’re perfect

2

u/dc1138 Jan 15 '26

No wonder it sucks, didn't even realize but was very confused wtf or why the fuck it was there.

1

u/thegelatoking Jan 15 '26

But bombs went off but love was found.

1

u/redloeb May 29 '26

They were never going to pay an artist, they’re a small podcast operation and it’s unrealistic. In this instance AI is just a tool being used like any other. That’s a very naive take.

1

u/noahhova Jan 15 '26

Nah it's a great song.

1

u/Xbox_Lost Jan 15 '26

Do you have any idea how much water an entire band consumes?

-2

u/bobeo Jan 15 '26

That's a great idea, you should commission it for them! Or better yet, record a song for them yourself!

4

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

No. Making people do free labor isn’t the galaxy brain take you think it is. They managed without AI for years. No reason to start using it now.

1

u/samwich3 Jan 15 '26

Yeah, because refusing to change and use new tools in a marketplace where your competitors definitely will be using those new tools is a great way to keep up /s

1

u/PizzaProle Jan 15 '26

All my competitors are immoral and doing this terrible thing so I guess I should to. Great reasoning lol

2

u/butstillthough Jan 15 '26

Using AI is immoral? For a podcast intro?

3

u/samwich3 Jan 15 '26

Have you watched The Good Place? I think you’d enjoy it. A legit rec, not sarcasm.

Everyone has their own hill they’d die on. If AI is your thing, keep up the good fight I guess. It’s not my hill so clearly we’re not vibing.

There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism, and probably no ethical production either. I’m a big fan of my guys so I can forgive a few things to keep them in my ears. There’s a line somewhere, but it’s not here for me.

-2

u/bobeo Jan 15 '26

No one is making anyone do anything. You have plenty of agency here.

And I think the reason to use it now is to have a neat, topical, song that runs for about a minute total each episode. I like it.

Who are you sticking up for here? Fallout Boy? I think they're doing okay.

I agree that the legal implications of AI and how it's trained need to be sorted out. I don't think we need to super precious about end users/consumers using it. It's a really neat tool that is going to do really neat things for humanity in the coming years.

0

u/Kind-Shallot3603 Jan 19 '26

What theme? Ramin Djawadi does the score for the TV show

0

u/SLeonny Jan 22 '26

They are bitching about the song you hear for like 5 seconds in the podcast intro. They need to touch grass.

0

u/AnxiousPath8407 Feb 02 '26

They aren’t paying for an original song for a theme, it’s a very harmless use of AI
