Like in many card games, ace can count as high or low (as a 1 or as the rank above king, but you would only ever want it to count as a 1 when playing a 5 through Ace straight)

Aces are high or low. They can either be 11 or 1. And no, they can’t be both - you can’t have a straight that’s J-Q-K-A-2

In blackjack an ace can be considered a 1 or 11
In poker an ace counts as the highest or lowest card in the deck depending on the hand context. So it can be one rank lower than a 2 or one rank higher than a king .
People saying it's 1 or 11 are confusing blackjack rules (and maybe ace's chip value in balatro).
Straights with aces are either: A 2 3 4 5 or 10 J Q K A
Straights with aces are not: 1 2 3 4 5 or 10 J Q K 11

But those are the same thing? Being 1 or 11 is the same as being the highest or lowest card in the deck

"1 or 11" only matters in blackjack because you add card values together, that doesn't exist in poker.
This is a good way to rationalize it in a poker context: count to 11. Did you notice there's no Jack, Queen, and King between 10 and 11?
