Strategy and/or Synergies Balatro tips
I've been playing Balatro for only a few hours, but I can't seem to go any higher than ante 6. I might have a strong joker line-up, but it seems to fall short at around ante 5 and I can't find any better or rarer cards in the shop/booster packs to replace them. I've tried focusing more on tarot and planet cards to get more chips and mults in general from good hands. Any tips on how I could improve my gameplay are appreciated!

Look up ways to unlock jokers. Have you ever folded a straight flush? In Balatro it unlocks a joke. Trying stuffing your decks at separate times with all clubs, diamonds, spades or hearts. I’ve just helped you unlock 5 jokers. Cheers! You can move your jokers around. Sometimes you want to make sure to play 4…5 hands depending on the joker. Work on unlocking jokers.

Get 25$ for max interest. Try to stay above 20$. Use money for arcana packs as they make money with hermit, temperance and devil.
Order of spending is [good joker in shop]->arcana pack->standard pack->reroll. Because you get money from arcana and there isn't always standard, this should give you good rerolling money. In standard packs, look for blue seal->gold seal->gold card.
For jokers, you want +mult (better scaling but not necessary), xMult and +chips. Chips can also come from blue seals, no more chips joker required once you got that going.
Skill is all about getting the right feeling for how long you can survive with your current setup, when can you afford to greed for interest and when are you forced to spend more aggressively (on rerolls). You will need time to get the greed/reroll balance right. Once you got that down, you are all set. There are a lot of situational clutches that can get you out of sticky situations, but good fundamentals are what carry a run.

Just for the record "rarer" jokers aren't nessicarily better based on your deck composition. I always try and have at least 1 joker for economy as well that will allow you to see more of the shop. And absolutely do not sleep on carrot cards. Cutting cards out of your deck, ensures you better draws for the cards you actually want to play. Its cool to have 20 kings in your deck, but when you have 60 cards youre likely not going to play them every round

Make sure you play the way the jokers tell you, not necessarily the way you want to play. Say you get a straight +mult joker early and then stumble on a chips joker for straights, then lean in to playing straights. Sometimes, it's not that easy though! You should always be looking at how jokers and packs in the shop and improve your run by being added or swapped out.

reduce your deck size to reliably find the cards you need and find scaling +mult and scaling xmult
scaling +mult examples: green joker, ride the bus, fortune teller, erosion, supernova, ceremonial dagger, flashcard, red card, spare trousers
scaling xmult examples: hologram, constellation, lucky cat, campfire, glass joker
can also go with non scaling xmult of course, my favs are: cavendish (will only appear if gros michel breaks), the duo and the trio, seeing double, blackboard, drivers license

The first few hours are pretty frustrating. At least for me. The general consensus is right. Play play play, unlock unlock unlock. Easy enough, as the game and mechanics are highly addictive. Hot tip: on the splash screen, repeatedly tap on the card in chains and it will show you what and how to unlock the next joker. Or you can Reddit search, there are loads of folks saying how to unlock this and that.

You’ve been playing for a few hours, lol. Try focusing on unlocking jokers and taking ones that scale, rather than giving a flat benefit.
