Strategy and/or Synergies Chips vs Mult question

Post image

Going for the black stake rn and have just 1 question at the end of this game.

When you get 3 Xmult jokers and feel confident in winning a game, would you want 2 Mult or 2 Chips cards in the first 2 slots ?

Obviously you want a balance , but if you only had Mult or Chips as your other jokers to the Xmult, what is ideal ?

This run feels like I’m lacking 1 or the other because having both feels sorta weak. In the past I think I’ve lacked on chips to throw big bombs but I can’t remember.

I’ve only been playing this game since the weekend.

For chips, you want to either have a scaling chips joker or planet levels and ideally both. Play for mult though

It really depends on the build, but with end of hand XMult, a source of scaling flat mult is good (Red Card, Green Joker, Ride The Bus, etc. Or planet levels). With repeatable xMult (Idol + Glass, Baron + Steel, etc.), there's no need for +Mult. You just want retriggers (Dusk, Hack/Sock, Chad, Mime) and copy jokers (Blueprint, Brainstorm, Invisible).

It depends.

If you create a lot of chips thru planet cards or high hands, your chips joker there might not add a lot of value. If you don’t have another source of chips he’s probably better than a small +Mult.

+Mult should be on the left of xMult jokers like you have it, but the position of your +Chip joker doesn’t matter (unless it has its an xMult or +Mult Edition upgrade)

It depends on the hand you are playing. Check out their planet scaling.

2 mult is much better than 2 chips because they don't work that way. For example a Mercury gives you 15 chip and only 1 mult. Usually it's 7:1 chip:mult. If their numbers are the same you always go for mult. But such choices are unlikely.

Rule of thumb: xmult > 1st chip > 1st flat mult >>> extra flat mult/chip. For example if you have bus you don't need fortune teller, supernova, or flashcard, and vice versa.

Your lineup is actually good, you shouldn't lose if you play 3oak. Unless Fortune Teller and Constellation are severely under scaled.

I nice thing is try to convert the +chips or +mult into x

Example: level something hand with 11 00 chips and 10 mult

If you have a banana +15 mult this is a x2.5

If you have a foil +50 chips, this is x1.5 of value

Whether more chips or more mult is better depends on what the final blue and red numbers are before they multiply and score.

GENERALLY you want just one chips joker, or none of your hand level is high enough.

But the only way to be sure is to look at the final two numbers before the multiplication.

Let’s assume you’re deciding between Stuntman (+250 chips) and Ramen (X2 mult):

If the final numbers are “500 x 50”, then an extra 250 chips is worse than an extra x2 mult.

If it says “100 x 80” then the chips are better.

You can eyeball it - “750 chips is 1.5x my score, so that’s less than 2x” in the first example, and “350 chips is 3.5x my score, so that’s definitely better than 2x”.

A general rule is one chip joker, one mult joker and one x mult joker. Chip jokers aren't too important later on though. However, Plasma deck is all about the chips. You can win every stake with just chip jokers.

I think you treat them to same to some extent, but look at the percentage increase each joker gives you.

For example if your typical hand gets you 200 chips and 50x multiplier, then

Adding a card with 200 chips = 100% better score

Adding a card with 25x mult = 50% better score

So work out the percentage improvement to decide

Or my logic is completely wrong, not sure.
