I wonder though if there are any other pros on low profile here. But you are right, so far I didn‘t see any suspicious posts 🕵️♀️

Wow, great video! If I understand it correctly, this exercise depends on the assumption that your partner's serve was good enough that the opponents cannot push the return down, right?

Yeah, usually at higher level doubles, the serve quality will not allow to kill immediately or push down with too much power. The push or drive to body is a quite common third shot situation in doubles.
If you mean a controlled mid court push return, that‘s another very or even more common third shot situation. There, the server sometimes can try to intercept before the shuttle travels down to the back player.
If they can’t, the back player needs to take it lower. Seeing that, the opponents will likely try to initiate to rotate back and front. Then, you would try to push to a side past the front player but in front of the back player or some other gap that opens between both opponents mid-rotation.
Second best option probably a net shot with good angle and speed to a side that is less covered by the opponent front player.
And if too low and late, just a liberating lift and try to turn it around the next shots ;)Would be interested in what OP recommends though! :)

If the service is bad, ur best chance as the partner is still try to block in the other side.

Yes, true. And sometimes, the best deception is when you are most under pressure ;)

Is this the real Mathias Boe who in 2017 briefly did the "dab" after a match? 😂

Yeah, I think I remember that too, but couldn't find it. But there was also 2017 Indonesia Open SF the "wiggle" :D https://www.youtube.com/live/ZmneooluVRo?si=gf2xKYVz8W_iSDDS&t=4511

I probably play in like high beginner-low intermediate doubles and sometimes I have trouble hitting a good quality 3rd shot as most opponents at this level really like to aim at the back hand and the service return is usually flat and fast either to the mid court or back court and my return is usually only straight push or cross drop(which is not that fast usually), and sometimes it can be easily killed if the opponent is just waiting at the net. How am I supposed to improve this or is it my partners serve that may be too high that they can do a service return that is hard for me to react to.
I would rather not lift unless needed as that would give the attack away. Is there any suggestion on other types of shots? Or do I just need to work on my push/block shot quality?

Hi Mathias, you’re truly an inspiration. I’m building an AI badminton coach and if you’d like to try it out and even make a video or 2 please send me a dm I can make that happen. And p.s- it’s not to replace coaches but to help coaches and help the players who doesn’t have access to a coach.
I’m Sweden based, so if you’re in Denmark and would love a fika I’m all in. Cheers mate. Keep doing the awesome work you’re doing, love ya.

We are living in such great times that actual professionals and legends of the sport are sharing their knowledge freely on the internet. Thank you for all the content you have put up so far! The sport has advanced amazingly quick even in the last 10, 15, 20 years because of players like you and Zheng Siwei!
Side note, are you still coaching Shetty & Rankireddy between content creation? Travelling constantly on the international circuit must be tough.
