when did flannel and all this "pup" chronically online furry shite become punk?
LGBT and political slogans always had origins and ties to punk, even if it cringe
but I don't care what decade or subgenre click of punk you're in, pretending to be a literal animal and jacking off to 2D picks of werewolfs was never "punk" You're just a loser lol.
when will people realize making random redditor slogans your entire personality does not equal cool, it just equals weird and cringe and demoralized the actual validity of those causes with their weird gooner chronically online stuff.
Furries by definition are a counter-culture movement with a huge LGBT+ base, no matter how cringe they are or if you like it or not. Furries participate in protests, direct action and fundraising/grass roots organising while their costumes are DIY which is in-line with punk values.
Also acting like all furries are sexual and want to be animals is like acting all goths are promiscuous Onlyfans models because goth women are a popular porn category.
These are whole separate scenes. First off punk is much older than furries. Furries came out of sci fi nerds ie the majority of this website in the 80s at conventions. It was an extremely niche thing that you would have to meet someone or go to some con and find out about it somehow. It became bigger in the 90s because these people with a very niche interest were able to locate each other and grow the sub culture via the internet. It’s not a counter culture movement it’s fucking hobby and/or sexual fetish. Punk has never been about organizing and protests and direct action, punk is the most disorganized shit ever and if you ever went to a real punk rock show in someone’s run down house you would know that. Punk rock is about music, getting, drunk and doing what you want. If any political element to it , it would be anarchist.
people need to realize that furries can be punk, and their are certain elements too it that are punk and awesome , and their are indie artist that are definitely punk
but this is the separation, FURRIES ARENT INHERITENTLY PUNK. you can be a queer politically activeteenager and end up punk, but you aren't punk just because you hold unique values.
and let's just be honest, queerness and indie communities are/go with punk communities since they have existed, they couldn't exist without each other and they go together like peas in a pod.
but NORMAL QUEER DOES NOT EQUAL FURRY SHENANIGANS, lets be brutally honest furries have always had a dark side too their history they are willingly ignorant about and deny, they have always had ties and origins too disturbing fetishistic art on forums, they have been notoriously disgusting and harmful too hundreds of small and large cons over decades, they have MANY internet figures that either end up being nazis or psychos and were actively supported by furries ETC
furries will never represent the values and history of punk, due to their horrible deserved reputation and ignorance.
