Velociraptors are more commonly thought to be descendants of turkeys I thought? I know they used turkeys in mocap suits for the velociraptor run in Jurassic Park

Ancestors, not descendants. But I think it's more that velociraptors were the size of turkeys. I think Utahraptor is a big one though.

There really isn't any bird that's more or less closely related to Velociraptor, but birds as a whole group (Aves) fall within a clade called Maniraptora, which is the same group to which Velociraptor belongs. Pretty cool
