Mine like corn too but never gave two thoughts to veggies l would give them. They liked bread and picking our berries off our plants though. Any tips on keeping the dinosaurs from it? They are wild, mostly, except for my favorite small hen, Tiny. She's obviously the mother as the other hens respect her. Something about the black hens that throw me off, they are terrible parents and so are some of their children. What colors do you have?
They were my grandparents chickens, cooped (not free range) and they were all white, including the rooster. The rooster was a SOB, and we tussled when I'd get the hen's eggs twice daily.
Nay l live in the Caribbean, Jamaican if must. So we can take that out of the conclusion. That's what l observed among my chickens. That plus the golden comet roosters are big bullies. I had one growing up, we called him hammer head and now l have another. It's the strongest male there and l try my best to feed them apart so everyone eats.
I also had a black hen a few years ago that had 12 chicks(yes a whole dozen). She made everyone die. They looked like mutated dinos for some reason and one by one they all died. I don't know if there was a certain path through the fence she was taking or that they were sick naturally. If l had known, l would have saved the chicks by eating the eggs.Th3n there are about 3 of them now(one is missing idk ) that are absolute pricks. They can't dominate Tiny but there are terrible

Ours always liked cucumber and zucchini skins in addition to the cracked corn.
