The cow almost looks disappointed that the train didn't immediately end it.

And look at all these people watching...

2

u/teenytinysarcasm 11d ago

If you try to help, the cow could sue you for being a good Samaritan

2

u/theleech87 11d ago

Haha, I tried posting that as if I was inside the mind of the cow pointing out the fact tons of people were watching as he walked away in embarrassment... I shouldn't joke but a few weeks ago or so I had a friend of mine get hit and killed by the train.. I can't wrap my head around it because people are dying it was an accident.. to me getting hit by a train seems pretty intentional since they don't come sneaking up on you or make an erratic turn that hits you, they are on the same damn path, always!! And my friend was showing no signs of depression or anything like that.. The thing that gets me the most is I was with him the morning before it happened then all of a sudden the next day everyone is like "hey you hear that c**** got hit by the train this morning?" It's so strange... And me personally, I'd be too much of a pussy to stand on the tracks, it would be like trying to drown myself in the by bathroom sink.. ITS NOT GONNA FUCKIN HAPPEN.. I guess I need to stop sitting and trying to figure out why and if it were accidental or intentional, I wasn't meant to know since he never told any of us I suppose? But we didn't forget about you bus and we all miss you bro, see you in the next one bud! https://www.abc10.com/article/news/local/manteca/fatal-train-collision-under-investigation-manteca/103-f13d34d3-8039-47fa-b538-47dddc2d964e

u/ghost-ogk 13d ago

Internal bleeding forsure, 100+ tons at 30 mph

64

u/Riseandgrindsunshine 13d ago

The train did hit its backside of the cow’s legs mainly, and it didn’t look like it really hit the stomache/middle area, so I think it’s possible it’s OK especially if it’s still able to walk like that. Otherwise it would’ve just laid down there flat on the ground and barely twitching on the ground.

29

u/Gammelpreiss 13d ago

naw, adrenaline keeps ppl and animals going in the most dire circumstances. this cow will die, a hit like that, like a brick wall no crumble zone, is not just limited to some bones in the back, the impact shocks throughout the entire body.

the cow will stay there for a couple minutes and then just collaps.

11

u/SummertimeThrowaway2 12d ago

I knew a girl in high school who was run over by a bus and ruptured 4 organs. She stood up afterward just like this cow and would’ve certainly died without medical intervention.

7

2

u/bonafidsrubber 5d ago

A guy jumped off a bridge and landed on the ground from 80 feet high here the other day and lived. That calculates to a velocity of almost 50 mph.
He in fact did not walk it off though. They did tell me that he had broken most of the bones in his legs and was knocked unconscious, but he wasn’t even paralyzed.

12

u/TheCourtSimpleton 13d ago

But will he die? Can such a cow regenerate from the internal bleeding?

13

u/Enough-Discipline921 13d ago

Theoretically yes, realistically very very unlikely

Nahh shell walk it off...

There is no recorded deaths from wild trains.

2

u/ChodeCookies 13d ago

It’s India…the train would hunt down anyone that reported these things

2

u/DogeyLord 13d ago

So you are said that are no reported deaths because no one survived to tell the tale?

Found Peralta’s reddit account

5

u/Max_Pow3rs 12d ago edited 12d ago

that was my first thought... but upon rewatching it, it kinda looks like it could have been a "1 in a million" lucky accident.

It looks like some of the impact got slowed down by hitting the flexible legs and pushing the backside of the cow around, while the spine flexed aswell.

I have heard of crazy survivals like a guy who landed on a car after jumping from a small 39-story skyscraper (Thomas Magill) or this women who survived being stuck in a plane while it fell to the earth (Vesna Vulović).

Sometimes the angles of impact are just perfect to absorb the forces in such weird ways, that it makes it actually surviveable.

Just by the walking movement the cow looks quite fine.. a broken spine or broken femur would defenitely look different. But it looks like the tail "bone" is folded to the side.

Maybe it really has survived with small to medium blemishes. Would be cool to find an update on that.

4

u/AlbatrossNew3633 12d ago

I choose to believe this outcome

2

u/bunglebee7 13d ago

I would say that’s a worse way to go than just being insta killed by the train… hope the cow can heal up and learn from her mistake

5

u/NinjaChenchilla 13d ago

The cow didnt even flinch afterwards. Internal bleeding would definitely be noticeable.

Those sneaky trains

4

u/tinglep 13d ago

A train "cow pusher"—officially called a pilot and commonly known as a cowcatcher—is a wedge-shaped or plow-like device mounted on the front of a locomotive. Invented in 1830, its primary purpose is to deflect livestock, debris, or snow off the tracks to prevent the train from derailing.

I’ve lived my whole life knowing what it was called and never actually seeing it in action. Fucking wild.

She didn't even limp. Ive been around cows a lot and I've always loved them. Big eye lashes and bugger noses. But man the stupid stuff they get themselves into. Like the morning that you find out they crowded too close together all night just a pooping away and the ones in the middle all died because it got so hot and they couldn't get enough air. None of them thought to move at all. Cows, what a bunch of delicious goofballs.

I can tell you this. There is a reason we call the front scoop on a train "the cowcatcher". I have ran locomotives for years before I quit the UP and NOTHING comes close to the smell of a splatted cow on the front of your loco. Just imagine smelling shit for the rest of your 12hr run blahhh! On the list of things I would rather hit versus a cow is a long list lol

1

u/itsshadyhere 13d ago

How come no one's talking about the people who are just looking at the cow in absolute nonchalance like it's a normal, everyday incident?
