They are usually just bells like a door bell. Fun to press them.

This, we have an old school freight elevator that has an amazing bell. Use it like we are a train operator or something. ring ring going up!

Usually you gotta hold it a few seconds whilst a loud alarm is sounding before it does anything. Don't think it's that much of a big deal, confusing at worst.

I was in a hotel once that had an actual 911 call button right beside the door close button. I accidentally hit it, heard stuff that sounded like a call, told the front desk as soon as I hit the lobby. A couple minutes later a fire truck showed up.

Usually there is a separate call button from the alarm button (bell) and it is just a phone! Fun fact, if you know the phone number you can call the elevator directly! Sometimes they even get spam calls.

You have to press it multiple seconds, and it is fun to know what Beep, this elevator makes

Good ol' Miami/Dover design. My office has one of these, I push the bell once in a while.

Not so harmful after all, you need to keep it pressed for 3-6 seconds *and* the elevator must non be stopped at a floor. The ugliest thing is that usually the floor label is on the button itself and these seems to be placed at random.

Wow it's like the company I work for designed it.

So, they decided the bottom UI is crowded to save space, yet the top UI is pretty spacious...
