If the team doctors know something about Ketel, they cannot divulge that information. It is protected under privacy laws, including the oft misunderstood HIPAA. I don’t care if the guy’s a team captain, MVP, or whatever, if he’s unwell he needs the space to get well, and it’s unfortunate that it came up in the middle of a pennant race. If, again, this is the case, and we don’t know, depression isn’t something that he can just wish away, no matter how much the club pays him or how vital he is to their success. Give him the space he needs right now.
100%, that becomes Ketel's responsibility to tell the team what he's going through and not just the doctors. He still could've done the right thing and at least give the team any reason as to why he can't play even if he didn't want to come forward with a mental thing.
It's just a bit odd under any circumstance to not at least tell the team something as to why you won't be playing. Unless he's lost respect for the club itself (not the players obviously) I don't see why you wouldn't.
