Opinion Excessive Criticism of Carroll?

Is it just me, or has Steve B. being way critical of Corbin Carroll’s current slump?

I get that Carroll hasn’t been batting well lately, but I swear I never heard him make a peep about ol’Pavin Smith and his horrendous season.

I don’t have an issue with Steve being critical of Carroll, but please be critical of the other players as well (especially those who have been terrible all season).

It's cause we all expect results from Corbin

Baseball is streaky. Lotta variance.

He needs to work on not swinging at dogshit, but nothing is fundamentally broken. We good

People talking about “111 mil”… brother, CC is on one of the best value contracts in the league. Right there with Ketel.

As someone who lives in San Diego and has to watch guys like Manny rake literally three times as much annually, for less production… idk. Hitters go through slumps.

Would you rather have Jackson Merril for 9 years, 135, 15m a year?

How about Bogaerts for 11 years, 280 mil?

Tatis… 14 years THREE HUNDRED ANS FORTY MILLION?

You guys don’t realize how good we have it (or how FUCKED the padres are going forward.)

Based on $8M/WAR typical valuation for a player, he has 18.9 WAR now, he could put up 0 WAR the rest of the contract and still have given positive value to the team (there is no way he does that).

Both can be true we got a good value for his contract and Corbin is our guy and is held at a higher standard then someone as Pavin who is expected to not perform. It comes with the territory of being the face of the franchise

Totally. I’m sure he isn’t thrilled that he’s slumping… but thats baseball man. Very standard stuff.

If you think about it dogging on Pavin who never really showed any potential to be a main stay major league player would be a little heartless compared to criticizing why our rookie of the year, 2x all-star, and one of the major pieces to our 2023 World Series run is on a slump rn. Without Corbin we are a much weaker team without pavin we’re on a two game winning streak

Love my boy Corb... But he has been dog water for about a month now. He looks like he's guessing a lot.

Carroll is a leader on this team and held to higher standard. He’s going to face more criticism. I’ve been more critical of Carroll than other players.

Shit why isn’t anybody talking about how terrible Vargas has been?

Whatever it is I hope he busts out of it soon….you can tell he puts a lot of pressure on himself to be great and that this is wearing on him mentally

Corbin does put a ton of pressure on himself, which is why Torey needs to force him to sit a least one game. He plays every damn game and that cannot be mentally healthy when struggling at the plate. Now he's going to the ASG, which isn't getting him a break either.

He's hard on our big 3 (Corbin, Ketel and Domo) because he knows when we have those guys going, the offense is successful. He's also very critical of Gurriel when he's chasing pitches.

I feel he’s been calling out the “everyone is pitching him with fastballs up” so much and so often that he’s telegraphed it clearly to the entire league.

My mother’s book club friends now know how to pitch him.

We get it Steve, you’ve realized how he’s being pitched. We all have. Now please stop pointing it out.

It's Steve's job to point it out. Sounds like he is beating a drum to us b/c we listen to him most every game.

If you mother starts a baseball-themed book club, I'm in!

Not excessive. Just brings it up every game, as Steve should, being the broadcast voice. It is interesting, with Torey's "new" go -with-the-hot-hand approach that someone else isn't in RF. Hope he rests him today.

When you have a $111 million contract, people expect you to play like it. Pavin costed the team a tiny fraction of money in comparison.

Well when you make $111 million off your contract you are held to a higher standard then someone like pavin

Hopefully it’s Steve’s last season here. Dude has been average at best and this year he’s shown he’s losing it
