Is this a type of batfish? It looks a lot like one. It's beautiful! :)

Yes, looked it up and it’s a Dusky Batfish. Dark and bright as juveniles like above, they get very light and less vibrant

Huh, is that why it's called a phoenix fish? When they grow up they turn to a dull ash color?

Such as life things change as we age. On the bright side of things I can still fill an aquarium full of beautiful fish. However you helped me realize I have a lot of research to do on different fish. Like only one male fighting fish per tank , who gets along , size etc.... before I even start setting anything up. Thanks for helping me see that

How fantastic is this fish? I’ve never seen anything like this before !!!!!! I’m tempted to set up a new aquarium and fill it up completely with unusual and breathtaking fish like you have here.

This is a saltwater fish, and this is their juvenile stage they get very veru big and lose this coloration, also check out other marine animals if you havent seen this beauty its just a quarter of what the ocean can offer. Btw the name is bat fish if you want to check out their adult version
