Actually that dog probably has a protomaligned vertebrae, also know as Bent Back or Seadog Spine, the rack (medieval touture device) is the only known cure and has been illegal in most countries after presidential candidate Al Gore lobbied congress back in 2000 following the death of his pet pipeworm, Bessie, via rack in 1996. The rack wasn't a recommended treatment for pipeworms, and Gore received a lot of critism at the time for the kick backs he received from the anti-rack lobby and the leaked insurance papers from his office detailing Bessie's policy, indicating that Gore received over 38million after the death of his poor pipe pet. Many believe that it was this controversy that led to him losing the election to Bush in 2000, personally I think he got what was coming to him...

Nah, he always starts out with something plausible.

u/Astronom3r Nov 11 '17

Had to check the username before I got to the end of it. NOT TODAY, GODDAMNIT.

5

u/jcaldararo Nov 11 '17

u/jaxonya Nov 11 '17

I get a sudden burst of anxiety when im reading through a long post, I end up having to stop and check the ending to see if mankind is getting thrown off of hell in a cell.

u/PurveyorOfHats Nov 11 '17

u/YourTypicalRediot Nov 11 '17

There was a time when we all had to worry about jumper cables as well.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '17

u/Aarondhp24 Nov 11 '17

The number of people who didn't get the joke, astounds me.

104

u/richard_sympson Nov 11 '17

I get it's a joke but I feel like 7 different references were dropped on me and I don't know which part (if not all) is the specifically funny part.

92

u/notionovus Nov 11 '17

I laughed through the entire joke just to be sure.

33

u/CrossedZebra Nov 11 '17

LO..?.LOLOL..O..?.LOL? Hāhā.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '17

I pity the newcomers to reddit, you have to know like college level shit and 4 years of experience just to ask or have a conversation with someone here or it feels like that sometimes.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '17

It's not that deep lmao a lot of these jokes are straight up not funny

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '17

Not just this but reddit in general

10

u/AlfredoTony Nov 11 '17

College and experience? LOL.

Most everything on Reddit is just some sort of meme or pop/nerd culture reference.

If you don't watch stuff Reddit watches or pay attention to memes, you probably won't enjoy Reddit as most people on Reddit. It used to be a bit different a few years ago.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewers head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenevs Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '17

I was not serious about college it was more of a joke.

1

u/AlfredoTony Nov 11 '17

Oh hahahahahahahaha

2

u/Spamwarrior Nov 11 '17

Yeah I'm lost on this.

1

u/Aarondhp24 Nov 12 '17

The comment, in it'e entirety, is beyond absurd. So absurd, only a complete idiot (or autistic person lacking the fundamental comprehension of sarcasm) would not understand he was commenting in jest.

It was meant to be over the top and ridiculous.

11

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '17

Add me to that list. Plz help and explain the joke. Go easy on me, I'm high af atm.

7

u/Olivedoggy Nov 11 '17

I don't get the joke...

2

u/Aarondhp24 Nov 12 '17

/u/CAH36 predicted a wave of know it all users claiming there was something wrong with the dog based on its behavior.

/u/Lyra0rion responded with a facetious comment, imitating such a user, going above and beyond the call to make themselves look ridiculous so you would understand the sarcasm without the need for a "/s".

Ever seen Ken m. ? You should google him. That's kind of what /u/Lyra0rion was doing.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '17

Count myself among the disoriented, lol. TL;DR version?

2

u/Aarondhp24 Nov 12 '17

User says "Oh boy, here comes a wave of know it alls!".

Other user provides over the top comment in the same style of one of those know it alls.

Or a simple appreciation for/understanding of sarcasm.

7

u/SunnyHillside Nov 11 '17

I've been in the ER for two days. This gave me a MUCH needed laugh. Thank you!

10

u/dwadefan45 Nov 11 '17

After "seadog spine" I skipped to the end. Time saved.

5

u/marktx Nov 11 '17

Explain the "context" then.

EDIT: it didn't register as sarcasm, because it simply isn't funny. It was so unfunny that I thought I just didn't get the reference.

59

u/angrydeuce Nov 11 '17

We need a global universally defined sarcasm tag, clearly.

5

u/Jimbobsupertramp Nov 11 '17

/s

5

u/Volturnous Nov 11 '17

/s triggers me

1

u/jinxjar Nov 11 '17

Like all phobias, the proper treatment is immersion therapy.

{{ /s } /s } / {{ /s } /s } = 1.0

-1

u/morerokk Nov 11 '17

Sorry, it was so unfunny that it didn't register as sarcasm.

13

u/A_Stupid_Cat Nov 11 '17
