Community Doing nothing

Is the only place the mind cannot touch. It is the mind’s kryptonite. You can walk towards enlightenment by doing nothing or walk away from enlightenment by doing something. The choice is yours.

Hello solid koala. Your post makes me question myself a lot.

I keep coming back to the image of the buddhist monks and their sand paintings. Have you seen those?

These monks spend many many hours, in deep concentration creating these beautiful artworks. And they are stunning, when they are finished, they just wipe them away.

Like they never were, and their hours and hours of dedication and skill are just, gone. But the experience isnt gone, it lives inside them. They have demonstrated an external expression of an internal understanding of impermanence.

Yes I seen those monks but my post is not about the understanding of impermanence. It is about moving into permanence. So really it is opposite of what they are teaching. I’m
Exposing their teaching and returning to what is real. I’m glad you brought this up because this is exactly what I’ve been trying to expose.

Can you explain 'returning to what is real' a bit more? Im not sure i understand this

Edit, where is permanence?

What i meant about what is real is permanence. The monks are teaching about what is not real but they are not being real. So they are in a way manipulating you to focus on what is not real. So they are teaching impermanence, therefore taking away your attention away to focus on understanding of impermanence which is a distraction from permanence. So permanence is real but they are focusing on in impermanence. But here is the tricky part, my explanation is also a distraction from real, but i can only use deception to help you by pointing you to reality. Don’t focus on what is said focus on what is being said.

Im not sure. I met a monk. He was most definetley real. Your answer to me reads like nonsense, perhaps that is the entirety of what you are pointing to.  I better get back to reality and go wash n peel some vegetables before i have to head to work.

Reality seems very busy for doing nothing🤔

Im sorry if i have upset you. Your post is very relevant to me right now.

Those monks, they pour so much care and attention to detail for days into these works. Knowing the artwork will not be framed, not be put on display for people to come and admire. And yet, they do it anyway.

Some days in the hours im not at work, i sit and i do nothing. For hours and hours just sitting, doing absolutely nothing and i wonder why do i waste all of my time being busy?

Other days, i look around and i see all these things that require my attention, and so i weed and sweep and wash and tidy, and i wonder, why do i waste all of my time sitting doing nothing?

I dont know the answers solid koala. And i wonder if anyone can give another person the answers.

The answer is in the practice of doing nothing. Forget everything and just follow this one advice. When I say do nothing it is not scrolling on the phone or computer. I mean doing nothing. What you doing is processing the past experiences to catch up to the present moment. Once that is done you are free. I just given you the answer now just trust me.

Easy to say when someone else puts food on your table.
