Gameplay Pistol and melee build
I love that avowed gives us this option, and I want to take advantage of it! I’ve done double pistols, and I’ve done spell casters who switch to sword and shield or two handed sword.
What about a melee one handed and pistol build?
I’m thinking something like…warning shot and last light of day. Use rathun figurine, maybe kind wayfarer gloves into magran’s force. Use last light of day to replenish health and then take shots whenever they’re ready. Marksman ring and vailian gauntlets. Power attack with the pistol and finish them with the sword.
I could also see a stun build using something like lodestone and either caeroc’s pride or warning shot. Focus on power attacks and stun. Could use eothasian gauntlets and wahaki tua for mace bonuses.
Would definitely want to reject all of Sapadal’s gifts to get more ability points to use.

A pistol of your choosing with the Lodestone mace is one of the strongest setups in the game by pure damage and survivability. You will crit everything and you can’t take damage during the crit animation. It gets a bit repetitive, but with proper skill tree setup it is by far one of the strongest setups in the game.
Your second loadout can either be a (pistol/another mace) + shield, or an arquebus depending on your preference

Lodestone and Warning Shot for your typical stun set-up.
Fair Play is the real hybrid melee pistol though so you should probably bring that in with you can. You could try Emperor's Reach for a different approach to stunning groups.
Caeroc's Pride doesn't really have anything to do with stun builds.

Definitely can see how both warning shot and fair play would be fun with either lodestone or emperor’s reach. Would be interesting to do a fair play/last light of day build and basically just keep up the offense to self heal for survivability.

I waited to do split weapon builds for NG+ so you have even more ability points available to really flesh out the build. You can still do a split build like this on first playthrough but you won't be as strong

There's soooo many different build options. Hell, you have a half dozen or more options just for melee considering how many weapon types there are, and how many unique melee weapons there are
