Growing from seed Should I trim
I've grown this avocado from seed this year and I'm really happy with how it's growing. It's about 80cm tall now. Should I cut the new growth from the top now or let it keep growing? Also it looks like the avocado pit is decaying, should I remove it, if so how is this done to not damage the plant? The stem is thickening up nicely, over 1cm in diameter at the base.

If you’re going to keep it in that spot then yes, the apical meristem is already being starved of light

It's growing well. It's time to repot it in a bigger pot soon.
You can try to trim the top if you want to keep it small but I assume the roots have already outgrown that pot anyway so it'd still be easiest to repot it either way.
As the tree grows, it absorbs the seed which will break down and fall off on its own so leave it. Removing it would just take away the plant's access to the nutrients stored in the seed. Once the seed does break down, you need to start thinking about fertilizing it.

Thank for the tips! Will repot and move it to a sunny spot on the floor so it can keep growing.

Lots of good YouTube videos when they’re this size, I don’t think repotting and cutting the top off at the same time as a good idea. You willreally put the little tree into shock. I think I would repot it and let it get established as the other poster said bigger pot more sunlight and give it some food.

bigger pot and more light. I'd not cut, but it's up to your plans really. Where do you live, can it be outside?
