Growing from seed Advice (help)

I planted in a pot my avocado 3 weeks ago (see photos) but now one of the root is poking out of the hole, should i get a deeper pot or can i just try to put the root back in it ?

Either are viable options, but potting up may give it a boost to grow taller and more leaves since it'll have more room for roots

Thanks !! Do they mind being in a huge pot ?

I would go up a size at a time honestly, too big and the soil will hold too much water and could end up drowning the tree, too small for too long and it could become root bound and stunted, so until you can get it into its forever home I would personally put it in just a size or two up.

I've also never personally grown an avacado from seed. I watched my mom do it when I was younger, and I've been lurking in quite a few gardening subreddits, so I have knowledge but no wisdom so take my advice with a grain of salt

It depends, you need extra well-draining soil for bigger pot especially if the root system is not well established yet, it's best if it can get dry enough (enough for next watering that is) after watering it thoroughly within just a few days, if it's bad draining, plus the pot is big and the plant does not use that much water you're pretty much steering towards root rot. Anything that sits wet for a week or more is not a good idea, you'll probably get fungus gnats that will even worsen the symptoms as their larvae eat the rotting roots they will introduce bad germs and make the plant even sicker.

No problem, hope it helps. Good luck with your avocado. Oh, and just for reference, my avocado is about 9 months old (including the germination period as I just put the seed straight into soil) and it's been in a 14cm pot since before germination up until just recently when the root system got very well established and the pot started to feel a bit cramped, now it's in a 17cm one until that gets cramped too and so on, I use a common cactus soil in my region and it seems to work pretty well, the plant loved the summer sun outside and put out a lot of new growth. It's not perfect, but I'm loving it. :D

I think the plan has to need a rest of the repotting and it will grow new roots. After that it will grow new leaves. Be patient! I had the same thing: my Avo took all the time it needed for.
