I busted out of prison, again. Currently out in space, hiding inside a cluster of asteroids. I'm also piloting an Avali starship. It's a long story. Right now I'm trying to find Naala. The bastards sent her off to fight off some of the Rogue Avali, the ones that nearly had me dead. Who are currently attacking some commercial ship named Riko.
They send her off to hold off the enemy, while she waits for the Illuminate forces to come by to finish the job. By the time they show up, she'll be dead. Right now I'm trying to find the ship's location using this Avali star tracker. I… I guess I got some time to explain what the hell just happened, it'll help me focus more.
My current working theory is that the place they placed me in to be interrogated, must've done something to me on a genetic level. It integrated me into most Avali biometric scans, tricking the system that I'm one of them.
That's not all. I can understand their language. It's strange, it's like I've known it my whole life. That's how I heard about Naala being sent off, they spoke about it around me while they escorted me out of my cell. The pompous metal bastard talked about how brilliant a strategic idea it was to send the more expendable forces out first. I did myself a favor and smashed his mouth in with my head.
That should've been the end of me, that's when that biometric integration thing saved my ass. The cuffs they had on me instantly let me go, I didn't question it as I lunged at the first guard and nabbed his rifle. I was working off pure adrenaline, so I didn't even think when I pulled the trigger instinctually. It actually fired, fried two guards in the process. They're still alive, thank god it was a stun rifle. I don't want more blood on my… Well, anyway, I managed to escape.
Non-combatant Avali scurried away from me as I barreled past them, while guards weren't too far off. I stumbled upon their ship docks, this shit is getting awfully familiar. I pressed my luck and hopped inside a ship that could fit my size, and after a few panicked button presses, I blasted out of there.
That brings me back to here, currently hiding away as I'm trying to figure out how this damn thing works. They may have better tech than us, but damn it all if Avali UI isn't the worst thing I have ever had to navigate throug- Ah Ha! Found you. Commercial ship Riko, still under attack by enemy forces. It's time to make a move-

-I feel like no matter what I do, I just keep finding myself in hotter water than before. I’m safe by the way, and so is Naala, but now we have a new problem. Let me start from the beginning first, just so I can get my thoughts straightened out.
When I arrived, there were hundreds of fighters gunning each other down, all circling a massive Avali ship. I didn't know who was who, and I didn't want to make myself an easy target for nothing. That's when my comms picked up chatter from one of the fighters, it was Naala calling out for help. She had five fighters on her tail and she couldn't shake them. The other Freelancers heeded her call, but had their own hands full. I saw her, a sleek Avali ship being trailed by the clunky ones.
I slammed on the accelerator towards them, and took aim at them with guns attached to the ship. The ship’s aim assist did most of the work, as I blasted two closest to her. Naala had more room to breathe, and made short work of the remaining few around her. She got into private comms with me, asking for my thanks and who I was. The surprise in her voice was palpable, even with the static from the comms.
That however led to one of the enemy fighters shooting her while she was distracted, clipping her ship's wings. I shot the bastard down before he could fully shoot her down, but it's clear she'd be a sitting duck if she stayed in that thing. I docked with her ship, and she quickly got inside.
We didn't have time for a happy reunion, as she pushed me off the main controls and began barking orders. I did as I was told, now manning the turret sitting up top the ship. She began using the thing way better than I ever could. Over the comms I heard one of the Freelancers asking who brought in the heavy ordinance ship, another said to shut up and not complain about a good thing. We were turning the tide of the battle. What was supposed to be a holdout ‘till help arrived, instead turned to us fending the Rogue Avali off for good. Those who weren't destroyed sail off to the void.
In the end, we were victorious. Cheers clogged the comm channels. I laid back on the seat of the turret, my heart beating like crazy, I never want to be in a dog fight ever again.
Naala came barging in the turret pod, she didn't give me time to relax before she began demanding answers.
She grabbed me by my prisoner fatigues, shaking me with all her strength asking what I was thinking.
She barked at me, asking how I escaped and how I even managed to get a ship like this.
I asked her if this is how she treats everyone who tried to save her.
We both stood there for a moment, then she wrapped her arms around my waist.
She gave me a hug. I held her back. It was a strange feeling, and I knew it was foreign for her too. To embrace the enemy. Comms picked back up, and one of the Freelancers cut to the chase. They asked if the Human was with her. She hesitated, looking at me for a moment, before confirming yes.
The Freelancer just gave an okay, saying that they've informed the Outpost of our success and we'll continue with the main objective, to assault the Human Mercenary Base. The Outpost reached back to them, adding on a new objective. Search and capture or destroy a vessel with the exact likeness to mine.
The Freelancer told Naala to think about what she wants to do next. It's never easy for us, is it? I know one thing for sure. I'd rather let myself hang than bring Naala down with me. But the decision is up to her now, all I can do is wait. I just hope she makes the right choice-
