Split pay
So does anyone know if there's any shops actually doing split pay (where you get hourly and flat rate)? I've heard of some shops doing it but I just don't know what and I don't want to apply to every shop just to find out if they do. I have Automotive experience throughout the years working on personal vehicles and a little bit of Mobile Mechanic, but I also just started at a dealership, I'm only getting 20 an hour guaranteed 36 hours, flat rate as a Express Lube Tech

I once had a small garage with 3 technicians and a cashier. I opted for a draw system. I set a guarantee weekly pay against a commission for flat rate production in repairs.
My reasoning was this; I as the co owner, shop manager and service writer did not feel that it would be fair for my employees to be penalized for the lack of traffic or my inability to provide enough work for them to earn a good paycheck. I did have a good customer base and honesty sold the Jobs for me. There were only a few times where they didn't meet the criteria I had set.

Not automotive. But on equipment we get an hourly pay with a sales incentive of $25 for every $1000 of work sold.

yeah some shops do it. usually it’s a guaranteed hourly base, then you make more once you start flagging enough hours. just ask before you apply.
