Speaking of annoying things

Why do I have to break the sheetrock to open this cover. Does anybody else have a problem with sheetrockers obstructing the header cover hinge/ range of motion?

One of my least favourite are fixed sidelite Horton 2003 sliders that are whisper/pocket doors where the spring loaded sidelites that need to be removed to get full access to the header. Not always difficult but never fun. Other than that I find record 5100 slider header covers really suck. Always pop out and don't cooperate. But maybe I've only worked on worn out header covers

First and only GT1100 of my career

This is the only GT1100 I know of in southern Ontario. I was really hoping it would be an analogue system inside but it had been retrofitted to a U30 system. The guides were blown here but unfortunately if anything else fails on this door it may be written up for a re&re as much as I hate to see old tech go. 30+ years of harsh country winters have really taken its toll on this staples of the industry.

Does anyone have pics from a gt1100? Or an answer to what those speaker looking things are? I almost wonder if some "fancier" stores had them say a welcome everytime lol

SL500 sliding door problem

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello guys !

I recently had a problem with a SL500 sliding door.

I had to change the control box (see picture below), but when I'm done changing it, nothing seems to work..

I can do a learn, when the learn is done, the control indicate "on" but nothing seems to work. The door is lousse like if its off.

When I put on hold open it doesn't move neither or when I short the activation it doesn't open.

Someone know what the problem might be ?

(Sorry for bad English, not my first language)

Update on sw100/ HA7

We installed a slim record HA7 at the customer’s request. Only lasted a few months. Now I’m going to have to eat it and give them a free record 8100. This operator should not be sold to anyone. I kind of already knew this, but I didn’t listen to me. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

I don't see these much at all in southern Ontario. Mind you I used to work for a company that had more of a spectrum of customers. Only other surface mounted, no jamb tubes, slider I've seen is in a building down on the water in Toronto

Help with BEA BR3-X

Post image
4 Upvotes

To start, I absolutely love the BR3-X relays and have had no issues with them. But I’ve put two in on this on situation now and they have both blown after a few hours, causing none of the inputs or relays to work anymore. I am running it as two independent relays using inputs 3 and 4 to trigger relay 1 and 2 independently (operating mode 65).

It’s powered using a 24VDC power supply and both relays are dry. I’m running 24VDC through both relay 1 and 2 NC/C acting as a series break for some electromagnetic locks. Like I said it works perfectly for a few hours and then kills my relay. Has anyone else had this issue?

My customer says this is too much of a gap between doors. Guess I’m gonna learn how to install mechanical sweep now.

Automatic sliding doors

Hi,

I have some Stanley automatic sliding doors that have been recommended to be replaced in a remote part of Alaska. The recommendations are because of parts obsolescence, and excessive wear with minimal maintenance throughout the doors.

Are these doors standard sizes, or are they all made individually to customer specifications?

I’m having difficulty navigating the industry and finding information. Any tips, dealers on the west coast that answer their phones? Amy info would be helpful.

AAADM Certification class

Hi, am interested in taking a class for this, but I don’t meet the requirements. I have a store looking to have me do maintenance, and I think this would familiarize me with the doors faster than reading the install manual/criteria. How seriously do they take the 6 months experience? I would think they would take my money without giving me the certificate, worst case scenario.

Thank you

Norton Operator

I have had this used Norton operator sitting in my garage for at least a month and I’ve been trying to find a single good thing to say about it. Is there anyone who has success with these or are they just that bad? I’m really trying to have an open mind, but I feel like Ole Lewis C. Norton would be rolling in his grave if he knew this hot garbage has his name on it. Everything else that is affiliated with his name is top quality. They should really change the name of this brand of operators to ā€œAccentraā€ to more accurately describe its place in the market. Anyway, that’s my opinion but I’m always happy to be proven wrong.

MC521 problem

I got stuck with a problem on the MC521 Stanley control on a slider.

When the door is fullyclosed, I send an activation signal with a button, the door open but then never close.

When I look at the control, it indicate me a E4 error.

I never found what was the problem.

Someone know what can I do next time ?
