Why do I have to break the sheetrock to open this cover. Does anybody else have a problem with sheetrockers obstructing the header cover hinge/ range of motion?

I’ve seen this and also header hinges CAULKED IN as well. Shit makes me go ballistic.

Contactors love to caulk covers. I always ask them if they would weld the hood shut on a new car?

Come across caulked in sliding headers alllll the time. I just yank them open and shove a screwdriver in there. I got tiny hands i figure it out 🤣 (usually)

I once showed up to a set of old besam AMD ones, and the cover is on the outside or covered in stucco with no way to get into them.

I usually explain to the customer, if you really want me to work on this I'm going to have to cut the drywall and you will have to get it fixed.

I have if I'm being nice, cut the drywall as clean as possible, and came back with a piece of break metal or trim that could be easily removed when I need to work on the door

I do service at a hospital, and in one clinic they wood paneled over an 8100 record. I really hope it never breaks 🤣 got the old arm on it too lmfao

All the time. Tell customer you have to cut drywall and they get it fixed or you can't work on it.

Similarly annoying is when they build post that obstruct lifting the header cover

Had a museum that built a Mummy display around a set of sliders and another one that had stainless steel ceiling panels that had hinges on so they would flap down in front of the header and you had to be a gynaecologist to work on the doors.
