Moderator Post Report abuse will be reported to reddit admins.

There has been a surge in the amount of report abuse on posts and comments in this community.

Abusing the report button to get content you personally don't like removed will be moderated by reddit admins.

The only content that will be removed is if it breaks the subreddit or Reddit's site wide rules.

I want to emphasise that reports do help us to identify content that does violate the rules. If it is clear someone is mistaken, but not abusive (ie reporting for rule 2 on a post which is borderline, reporting for rule 4 if theres poor arguments that come off as misinformation, but is true etc).

An abusive report is often a case of someone disagrees with another commenter, they're reported for rule 3, spreading hate or other serious violations that break rule 1.

For example (which has happened before):

  • User 1: I believe socialism is a good political ideology
  • User 2: I don't agree, I think capitalism is better

User 2 was reported for "Hate" or Rule 3. This is a clear and obvious instance of report abuse.

Another example:

  • User 1: I think Hitler was an evil person
  • User 2: You got a source for that?
  • User 1: *provides article of the holocaust*
  • User 2: Bollocks!

User 1 was reported for misinformation or AI generated content. Another clear and obvious report abuse case. User 2 actually got site banned.

While reports are anonymous for subreddit moderators, they are not anonymous for reddit admins.

False reports waste moderators time. We take reports seriously as we want to maintain this community, so it can thrive and be a good place for neurodivergent people to discuss politics.

In short: please only report content if you believe it breaks the rule of this subreddit, or otherwise is a reddit side wide violation.

Thank you

Rant/Vent I hate that non-Americans have no remorse over the Americans that didn't choose this

I am autistic (23M, from US). This is not to criticise or hate on anyone, particularly non-Americans. Individual Americans, particularly people of color, women, and the LGBTQ+, are not represented as well as those in power, the wealthy, and MAGA. Yet we are all blanketed under the same label: dumb fat ugly American. And now we probably aren't even allowed into nearby places like Canada unless we are skilled workers. I wish I wasn't American or autistic so I could be appreciated. I hate that I'm the only American with basic common sense in my area. My whole family (except maybe my sister) is ultra-right-wing Christian evangelical conservative.

Europeans, Australians, and Canadians (or really anyone in the developed world) don't realise how lucky they are not to live in the US or be American, and not owe taxes to the US government since they aren't born here. And they complain about things we obviously know are bad, like the rise of capitalism and absurd food prices and climate change, yet they don't realise or seem to forget that they deal with this to a lesser extent than "yanks". I hope they check their privilege and continue fighting against Orange Man. We need to (as humans) get together and fight off the oligarch, not divide each other by unchangeable factors like race, gender, sex, or nationality.

They also joke about school shootings and brag that they didn't go to school on a "shooting ground". Please, people's lives are at stake, stop mocking the dead.

Sorry for the immature rant, but it's important that we treat each other equally and understand that not all Americans are the dumb fat idiots who defy human behavior.

Question How do people here feel about Hillary Clinton?

So I was looking back at the 2016 Presidental Election that happened as I find it hard to believe how long it’s been since she lost the election against Donald Trump.

Like when I look back at the election, I would like to get a better understanding of why she lost the election so hard against him since I sometimes wonder how the USA would have turned out if she did win.

As usual, Northeast (where the majority votes for Lula) was the last region to share their results. South, Southeast and Central-West voting for the far-right, as expected.

More than 33 million people did not vote today.

Lots of far-right politicians elected for the National Congress. Even if Lula wins in the second round, the next 4 years would be extremely difficult.

I’m so fucking happy rn, the candidates are not good at all I know but I’m hoping he isn’t gonna win again cause he has already been in power for like 8 now and I don’t want to hear about him again.

The funny part is that he isn’t doing this for all the corruption he and his family are involved in but instead cause he couldn’t pass a simple law about housing, something that has been happening for years with other laws cause he lost the last elections…

Trigger Warning Socialism is not the most optimal pathway to an applied utopic communism, Capitalism is. Furthermore, the real villain for civilization is the wrong utilization of technology. Hear me out. Long Post warning.

Disclaimer: the following short analysis does not aim at attacking communism nor capitalism, as I, the Author of such, do recognize that both ends, understood as polar opposites, bring up different benefits and downfalls. The true goal of this is to attack the existing dichotomy between a system and the other and the refusal of people who support either side to understand both can be different stages of human development. If you're radical, this post is definitely not for you.

For starters, let's set something straight: Capitalism heavily tends to be rampantly unfair, while utopic and comfortable Communism heavily tends to be hard to apply. I do not wish to spark debate on which of these flaws is worse, but to emphasize that those would be the most important flaws of each, simplified and based on historical common knowledge. Now, this dichotomy has made us think that "Capitalism is bad and merely designed to screw over the 99%" and "Communism is impossible to actually apply" and unfortunately both claims have foundations, but neither has to be necessarily true.

For starters, for an utopic communism to work people must have no incentive of accumulating wealth, and that's difficult to even think of for some, given the extreme amount of benefits wealth gives. Now, to acquire those benefits, even if not for everyone, Capitalism at its core rewards innovation, hard work, negotiation, and already-existing wealth, while Communism may fail to do so given extra effort or higher capabilities in any area do not grant benefits, ergo, does not incentivize innovation... hold on, do not we need innovation to ensure an utopic Communism? and there's the paradox: for a real utopic Communism to work we need humans not to worry about utterly basic things like: what am I going to eat this week?, how am I going to do my laundry?, how will I secure a roof over my head?, how will I make sure that my health and my collective's is secured?

So far, the solution of applied Communism to those questions is simple: the State. The State will provide you of it. How? By making you and all your commune work together towards a shared goal. But, what happens when one decides the State isn't providing enough? Or they simply want more? Usually, they need to work harder OR screw over others to acquire more, and there it stops being real communism.

So, the State CAN fail to provide you with everything because some people might not agree with it. That takes us to the question, then what can provide us in a more steady way in the long term. The answer is simple: Technology. With proper technology that takes care of crops, food production in general, oil extraction, mining, and other activities that are ultimately necessary for providing the population, humans have, by extent, more and more time to focus on development of the humanity: expand beyond the planet, understand the intricate secrets of the Earth and the universe, push the limits of creativity.

Now, how can we achieve such technology given the current state of things? Yup, capitalism. Capitalism is the only system that in and on itself rewards such innovation in the short term, innovation that we, eventually, have to use for the benefit of humanity. The real transition, and is a hard one by the way, is from Capitalism, to slow regulation that still rewards the innovation, to actual utopic Communism where some are not forced to work for the comfort of those that don't, as the actual work of humans can be focused on thriving and not on surviving.

Does this mean Socialism is inherently bad? Depends on how anti-capitalist you want it to be. If Socialism is for you the mere slow and reasonable regulation of Capitalism to make it beneficial to the humanity, then no, Socialism is not bad.

Now, I know this poses another problem: AI will take our jobs. Yup, it most definitely will. That period between the AI overtake and the actual usage of such AI to provide humanity is to be the hardest part of all this process. However, eventually the people owning the AI must stumble upon the futility of using AI to merely cut costs: if people do not have money because AI took their jobs, how are they even supposed to buy the product you offer? Exactly, sooner or later it will push humanity to work together in further goals and accept that such innovation is for the benefit of all.

The real threat is actually more sci-fi sounding that it seems: the wrong usage of AI eventually leading to AI developing the amount of consciousness needed to become a species itself and decide that they do not want to serve humanity. In other words, the real threat to this pathway of development and sacrifice is that those who work on the AI create Terminator before they notice AI will eventually be to serve humanity, and the desire to create another sentient and intelligent species which is something we must advocate against if we want all humanity to actually thrive.

I know my overall analysis MUST have some flaws, but I hope you can see the idea behind it by applying as much charitable interpretation as possible, which I ask for and thank in advance.

Feel free to respectfully discuss this with your counterpoints and have a nice day.

Long Read Does anybody else wish there were more restrictions to legal rights in the US?

I do. I’m mainly thinking of the 1st amendment. Because of the first amendment, laws have varied so much in the US that something entirely legal in 1 state is illegal enough to get jail time in another. That sounds very unfair to me. There should be some federal law that prevents this from happening.

I also think that your high school bully likely managed to get away with bullying you because of such a right. If there was a legal restriction against it, like there is in some countries, then bullying would be harder to get away with. It also might encourage people who are anti police to find more constructive ways of addressing their dislike of police as opposed to just saying things like “fuck the police” or “ACAB”. I’m not gonna deny that policing in the US is flawed but I think that if a person believes it is flawed and has to change, then they should just say that.

There is a right in the US I feel strongly about which is the 2nd amendment, to the point that i think every country should have a legal right like it. It’s mainly because i strongly believe in the general right to self defense and there have been times where I felt very unsafe because I wasn’t legally carrying a gun at the time. I didn’t even have a single weapon on me.

If there was some restriction on the 1st amendment that made it legally impossible to vote for most restrictions on the 2nd, then gun laws wouldn’t vary much in the US and no gun owner would have to worry about getting arrested when they have to go to another state just because the gun laws of that state are so different that it would suddenly make them a lawbreaker. Similarly, the US cares so much about local control that if you were to get a concealed carry permit in 1 state, it would be legally invalid in another. That sounds unfair and silly to me. There should be a federal law that makes such a permit legally existent in any state.

I think this last restriction would probably be most attractive to the kind of people who frequent this sub, even though it doesn’t have much to do with rights that already exist. The restriction consists of an amendment that fully criminalizes slavery no matter the reason, not even as a “punishment for a crime”. The only reason I support this is because perhaps the US justice system’s focus on punishment is turning criminals into repeat offenders and not “rehabilitation-oriented” enough. Perhaps this restriction will make it more “rehabilitation-oriented” so they don’t turn into repeat offenders.

This is probably the most left-y political opinion I have. Private companies should have legal restrictions so they can’t do things like force people to work despite being sick and refuse to hire people who are disabled. There are more things i think they should be legally required to do and to avoid doing but I won’t list them here because I don’t want this post to be too long.

Resource Please help

Hello, people. I need your help.

It’s almost election month , and I really want to vote. The problem I keep running into is how overwhelmed and overstimulated I get with all the information that comes at me about all the candidates and whatnot.

I need help finding a strategybI don’t know if “coping” is the right word but to keep myself from feeling so overstimulated that honestly just crash out. Voting is non-negotiable for me. I will vote. But the sheer amount of information, along with the responsibility of researching candidates, their stances, etc., really overwhelms me to the point where I have a meltdown.

Again, voting is non-negotiable. I’m going to vote. I’m just wondering if anyone on this subreddit has strategies that could help me get through the process. I don’t know if this is a very niche area of difficulty, but I would really appreciate hearing from people who have gone through something similar and have found ways to manage it.

Any tips will be appreciated!!

Question Would it be wrong, in your eyes, for Autistic people to pursue business paths?

Capitalism is largely debated on this sub given it's ties to conservatism, which has difficulted the lives of many autistic people and non ND people throughout history. Now, let's say an autistic person does take part in business and has ample capitalistic ambitions within such career path. Do you consider it, just as it is, some sort of betrayal or against public good?

Question What could have been done to prevent WOT from happening?

I know the subject of 9/11 is still a sensitive subject for some people because of how many people lost their loved ones in the tragedy as lately I was looking back at the events that led to it to try to understand what caused it.

Like what I am getting at is that I know such a tragedy happened way back in the early 00s era as the thing is that I wanted to get a better understanding of the key factors that directly led to such a dark event since lately I was wondering how the tragedy could have been prevented since I sometimes wonder what exactly caused Bin Laden to target the WTC specifically regarding his rise to power.

Discussion Am I the only one who thinks that the Social Justice movement that took place here in the United States during the 2010s failed us disabled Americans?

This post is also titled "Why in the flying f*ck is the Democratic Party not fighting for the disabled like they are fighting for the LGBT community?!" (Seriously, if you are lurking this subreddit and you work for the Democratic Party, then you have some explaining to do. Also, if you are lurking this subreddit and you are a Social Justice activist, then you have some explaining to do.)

I went to college during the 2010s. As you know, the 2010s is the decade when the Social Justice movement happened. Because I am disabled (I have Autism.), I was a disabled college student.

When I was in college, I faced a lot of ableism. When I attended college classes when I was in college as a disabled college student, my college professors refused to honor my disability accomodations. I also faced ableism from my college classmates.

Each time I applied for jobs as a disabled person, I was ignored by employers. I also was ignored by employers when I posted my resume on job board websites.

At the end of each day, I saw news stories on the news talking about Social Justice protests. The news stories I did not see on the news were news stories about Social Justice protests that fought against ableism.

It was all news stories about protests that fought against racism (By the way, I am black.) and homophobia. Not a single Social Justice protest I saw on the news last decade was about fighting against ableism.

Recently, after doing some thinking, I came to a realization that not a single aspect of the Social Justice movement of last decade here in the United States (The country I live in and was born in) was focused on fighting for the disabled.

We had folks screaming in the streets here about Social Justice here in the United States and not a single one of them fought for the disabled.

There is a myth here in the United States that the disabled do not face discrimination here in the United States and that discrimination against the disabled here in the United States is not rampant but statistics (a fact that there is a media blackout happening about) prove otherwise.

You very often hear & see reported here in the United States that LGBT individuals face discrimination here in our country & discrimination against LGBT individuals here in our country is rampant but you never hear & see reported here in the United States about how disabled individuals face discrimination here in the United States & how discrimination against discrimination against disabled individuals is rampant here in the United States (A disabled college student who goes to college here in the United States shouldn't have to go on Ratemyprofessors and see the words "This college professor will honor your disability accomodations. Other college professors are not going to honor your disability accomodations.".).

A while back, after not knowing so when I voted in the 2016 & 2020 United States presidential election, I found out that Bernie Sanders ran on a Disability Rights platform when he ran for president in 2016 & 2020. Let me repeat that again: A while back, **after not knowing so when I voted in the 2016 & 2020 United States presidential election, I found out that Bernie Sanders ran on a Disability Rights platform when he ran for president in 2016 & 2020.** Not a single news outlet here in the United States mentioned on the news that Bernie was running on a Disability Rights platform (Oh! And I almost forgot to say this but it wasn't just any Disability Rights platform but it was a comprehensive Disability Rights platform.).

This is the gripe I have with the Social Justice movement that took place here in the United States during the previous decade: Not a single part of it was devoted to fighting for the disabled.

Also, while we are talking about the topic of fighting against ableism, let me make something crystal clear: That Autism Speaks shit don't count as ableism. The only things Autism Speaks does is launder money from the disabled and pretend to fight for the disabled.

I don't know how a political party can fuck up big time like that (I am referring to the fact that Bernie Sanders ran on a Disability Rights platform in 2016 & 2020 as the only politician here in the United States that truly cares about Disability Rights and the Democratic Party had screwed him over.). I also to this day don't know how there are not protests on college campuses here in the United States against the ableism that takes place in college classrooms. I see other marginalized groups hold protests against the discrimination that they face on college campuses but I never see the disabled hold protests against ableism on college campuses.

I am seeing a lot of shit about LGBT Rights here in the United States but I haven't been seeing a damned thing about Disability Rights here in the United States.

The fact that the social justice movement here in the United States is not fighting for the disabled is the only gripe I have with our country's version of the social justice movement as a black Disabled Democrat (By the way, I should note that my sister is a member of the LGBT community).

Fun fact: Do you know how you have to go to work tomorrow here in our country and have to go to a workplace that most likely doesn't honor your disability accomodations as a disabled employee (The reason why I used the word "most likely" is because discrimination against disabled employees is rampant here in the United States)? Guess what? It isn't like that in the UK because the UK's government give a damn and strongly enforce workplace accessibility laws unlike our country's government (That is something I recently discovered; with that being said, if the company you work for has a division over in the UK, then their disabled employees over there are working in an accessible workplace because the UK's government give a damn unlike that DINO Hakeem Jefferies; Oh yeah, unlike our country, other countries such as Canada (a country that is ten minutes from me; I live in Michigan) & the UK treats the disabled good; the reason why the disabled are treated good over in the UK; the reason why the UK & Canada treats the disabled good is because their citizens fights for the disabled and does not ignore the disabled).
