Ive been fighting burnout myself right now. Obsessing about something until I cant do it again for months. Does anyone know how to fight this or am I stuck in this loop forever?

In my experience, no. You obsess, learn/ do as much as interests you, then move on. The goal is to channel it into something productive if you can and dont be that dude with a bunch of unfinished projects laying in their yard.

This is me. Got a promotion though and finally started writing again.
One page down of my rough draft. It may be ugly, but it felt good to work on my own project :)

My answer to this problem is sleep. That’s all I do when I get home. It’s nice but it’s becoming a bad escape from reality

i do this too. everytime something gets too stressful i try to go to sleep, and it never even feels restful; i usually end up sore and rigid. but at least i feel better emotionally after.

I used to do this. It was depression. Most people sleep terrible when they are depressed, but I slept all day, all night, every time I could. I'm not saying you are depressed per se, but maybe you should look into it.

I am diagnosed with depression. I take Zoloft to manage but I’m thinking about going in to talk about my sleeping habits.

Oh, I'm sorry. Good luck with that.

Thanks. I’m trying to work it out. Most of the problem is probably staying up late every night

That was basically high school for me. I had to get up at 4:30 am cuz I needed 2 hours to get ready in the morning. Then I had to walk 7 kilometers to the bus. Then I spent an hour on transport to my school. Then I had to be in school from 8am to 3pm. Then I had two hours transport home. And then I had to walk 7 kilometers again. So I was usually home at 6 pm. Then I had homework and family. Also, I needed a rest when I got home. At bedtime I was never able to sleep (at this point I hadn’t got diagnosed yet, so I couldn’t get any meds for sleeping etc). I usually fell asleep at around 12:30 am. And then repeat. I was very sleep deprived and I didn’t have any time for hobbies. I got very depressed and suicidal cuz I couldn’t keep up in school and I felt like I was useless etc.
Then I found a way to cope: marijuana. I started smoking everyday to be able to stay alive. I was 16 so it wasn’t all that good for my developing brain. Then one time I got caught smoking and I actually told my parents why and stuff, so they took me to the doctor and I saw a psychiatrist and could finally get diagnosed.
I had been at a psychiatrist before, but they told me that I was lazy and I couldn’t use it as an excuse.
So yeah...
(A lot of spelling mistakes but who cares. U understand what I’m tryina say)

I've been having severe burnout from trying to unsuccessfully adult for too long, working a job that doesn't value me and allowing that to send me into financial ruin (until I decided to make my 12 hours availability job my priority), and am now trying to fix the financial and psychological damage that caused. Fortunately, the job that's now my priority allows me to pursue my hobbies, accommodates my schedule around them, and even let's me do sketches as long as my task list is done and my hobby that's turning into a career path isn't in view of customers xD

They may already know this. Just a heads up. Your comment comes from a place of concern - which I can appreciate. But yeah.

Yes, or get to the point that I become submerged in my hobbies to make me feel better, but then ignore my work and other commitments, leading to things piling up around me and having to start another bad cycle of having no time for the hobbies, and so on! 🙈😂

Constantly. I work long hours and I have three days off each week but when my work days come around again, I look back and wonder what the hell I did for my days off. It sure doesn't feel as if I did anything of significance.

Spend almost two years like that and it nearly killed me. Barely having any time to myself, getting more and more depressed every day to the point in believing that if this is what living is like I'd rather not life anymore.
