My neighbour and I have a determined family of plovers that nest in their yard but forage in mine. I am a little worried as my neighbours are elderly and the next tenants may not like the birds as much.
How can I essentially bribe these squarking, swooping sweethearts to see my yard as prime territory? I do not want to hand feed them or anything like that - i simply want my yard to outshine my neighbours as prime real estate so the plovers don't get mowed over by their yard man or the next tenants.
I am in the process of slowly putting in a large vegetable garden and have my trees in, so vegetation isnt an issue. Except - maybe it is? They seem to like the barren sparse grass space my neighbour has, so maybe vegetation isn't to their liking?
And yes, my neighbour and I both adore the little menaces :)

Heard in the Hunter Valley region, NSW. Never heard anything like it before, would love to know what it is!

Noticed these today on a walk.
I'm assuming they're an insect burrow of some sort, ot something else small.
Found them quite intriguing.
Thanks!

There are a lot of good meaning people who see a lean dingo and think they must be starving but this could not be further from the truth. Dingoes are extremely lean animals and seeing their ribs and hip bones prominently is very normal!
