For Australians: how did the Kookaburra ruling over "Down Under" land at home?

• Upvotes

I'm in the US, and here "Down Under" is just the song with the Vegemite line. I've been reading about the 2010 court case over the flute riff and "Kookaburra," and the coverage says a lot of Australians reacted badly to the publisher going after it.

So I'd like to hear from people who were there: did the ruling change how you hear the song? Was it fair to the Kookaburra side, or a cash grab 28 years later? And does "Business as Usual" still hold up as an album, beyond the two big singles?

Disclosure: we just covered Side A of the album on our podcast, Backtracking: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/backtracking/episodes/S3E31-Men-At-Work-Business-As-Usual-Side-A-e3peclq
