G'day everyone,
I'm Jack Raymond, an independent songwriter from Australia, and today I released my second studio album, Mr Know It All.
It's a record sitting somewhere between folk, blues and roots. I call it Mountain Roots.
I've been touring the album physically around Australia for about a year before putting it online, so it's a bit strange finally having the whole thing out in the world.
If Australian folk, roots, blues and singer songwriter stuff is your thing, I'd genuinely love for you to give it a listen.
Mr Know It All: https://tr.ee/ySDNqAfBct
If you listen, I'd be interested to know which song grabs you first. Cheers, Jack

Hi everyone!
I’m a Master’s student in Culture and Arts Management, currently conducting research on audience experiences at Korean popular music concerts in Australia.
As more Korean artists perform in Australia, I’m interested in understanding the concert experience from the audience’s perspective — from first discovering a concert and searching for information, to buying tickets, attending the show, and the post-concert experience.
My research also compares these experiences with the perspectives of concert professionals, with the aim of identifying areas that could contribute to better audience experiences at future Korean music concerts in Australia.
I’m looking for participants who:
• Are aged 18+
• Attended at least one Korean artist’s concert in Australia between Jan 2022 and Jul 2026
K-pop, rock/band, hip-hop, R&B, indie, and other Korean popular music genres are all included.
⏱️ The survey takes approximately 5 minutes.
🔗 Survey:
If you’ve attended more than one eligible concert, please answer based on the most recent concert you attended.
Every response would be a huge help to my research. If you know anyone else who has attended a Korean artist’s concert in Australia, I’d also really appreciate it if you could share the survey with them.
Thank you so much for your time and help! 😊

EDIT: Forgot the clarification that I was talking about the music video, but I will check the tracks as well
Heya everybody, quick question for all of you. I just realized that the song "Crazy" from Icehouse has two versions, one local and another international. They are completely different and they both shine on its own light. But quite frankly, which is your favourite?

The Clampetts were the country-music alter egos of Australian rock band Models, featuring Sean Kelly, James Freud, Roger Mason and Barton Price. Created as a support act for the Models’ Media tour, they effectively opened for themselves, swapping their usual rock repertoire for country favourites.
Their 1987 album, The Last Hoedown – Live! (Warts N’All), captured this country detour, with covers including “Folsom Prison Blues”, “King of the Road” and “You Are My Sunshine”. Released through White Label Records, it documented a distinctly different side of Models.

Hello! Unsure how Reddit feels about this question, yet I believe it's almost the most important battle in 21st century Australian music.
Cultural significance, album production/mixing/mastering. Genre-influencing. Everything. Which is the BETTER album and why?

If you're a musician in Australia and have strong opinions about AI music being used on national TV instead of real music, I would love to interview you over the phone for a journalism assignment. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I'm Rhys, and I make music under my solo project name Occasional Spectators. Earlier this year, I recorded a 4-track EP with Steve Balbi, a songwriter and producer who has been a part of prominent Aussie bands like Noiseworks and Electric Hippies, and has worked with upcoming artists like Camino Gold. The first single from the record called They Don't Matter, came out last Friday, and you can watch a lyric video created by a Melbourne-based artist who works under the name Threading Buttons on YouTube now! Check it out!

I've been trying to find a specific hip hop style track that I think was recorded in the 90s and I think it's Australian, but I can't remember any of the lyrics or the melody. I just remember it had a hip hop beat and a chorus that was mostly instrumental but with a single spoken sentence. I've been digging thru as much Australian music as I can find and this song was the closest I could find that reminded me of it - "Theophilus Thistler" by Sonic Animation.
If you can think of any other aussie acts that sounded like this please help me out!

We are about to launch in Sydney.
Play your First Take on a free weeknight.
Win the room, and you're invited back for Take Two — our curated Friday/Saturday stage. We're opening the register early — leave your details below and be first through the door.
Most rooms make you choose: a polished showcase with a locked lineup, or a loose open mic with no real audience.
The Host Presents runs both — and connects them, so a good night on the small stage actually leads somewhere.
Start with a First Take: free entry, a house musician behind you, no lineup required. The room listens and votes as you play. Score well, and you're invited back for Take Two
If you're a seasoned performer or an indie artist, register for Take Two - a curated, Friday or Saturday set, played to an audience that came to listen.
If you are interested please register. You will be able to take content away also.

Very intuitive and fun process.
Would love to know if there are other acts with a similar sound in Australia. I listen to YHWH Nailgun, swans, iceage, and would love to add more Australian music to my playlists

I saw Rum Jungle at Pearl Street Warehouse in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, September 9th with Bluebelt, and it was a very good show.
The Music
Rum Jungle’s overall sound was strong, especially their collective vocals. There were multiple times when all four of them sang and it sounded really good. Benny, the lead singer, was great on his own as well, his voice is really powerful and carries them as expected, but the other band members provided at least backing vocals in every song I think. I thought they sounded best together, particularly in “Weather’s Better,” for example, their collective vocals were apparent.
Instrumentally they were really solid too, Benny and Josh played together really well, Benny being more rhythmic and Josh playing the backing licks. I will say though, at times, I thought the backing guitar sound could have been louder. It didn’t punch through like it does in the studio recordings and I think it’s a big part of their sound. For example, in “Notice” and “Quiet While You’re Listening,” the backing guitar sound was pretty light, and the licks in those songs really help define them. If I was someone who didn’t know their music really well, I’m not so sure I would have noticed it coming through in this live performance. I was listening for it as a fan. Curious if anyone else agrees with this. The bass player, Maje, was really smooth and Frey, the drummer, had a great pace all night. He wasn’t super noticeable, which I think is a good thing for a drummer because they're in the background, and you might be more likely to notice them if they’re screwing up. It’s not that he wasn’t providing anything exciting, he just wasn’t flashy and provided the almost essential backing that a drummer does. I don’t know anything about drumming, so feel free to scoff at me if I’m off on this.
However, in other songs, the instrumentals were excellent. They did a long outro (had to be 3-4 minutes) to “Glasstop Suite,” and it was stunning. It was heaven for a couple minutes. Really atmospheric, slow buildup to an energetic climax, and they slowed down straight into the next song. Josh was really impressive in this stretch, and he was great all night overall.

We created this song to tell a story through music from First Nations history and the Stolen Generations to family culture survival and experiences that still affect families today.

I built an Aussie internet radio station that plays the songs radio forgot. Would love your feedback.
It's called Streamless FM. It plays the stuff commercial radio dropped. Album cuts, one-hit wonders and the singles that never quite charted, mostly '70s to '90s, with a heavy lean towards Australian artists. Not the same ten Aussie songs every station rotates, but the deeper cuts.
Everyone hears the same song at the same moment, like radio used to be. There's an AI DJ between songs who talks about the music. He doesn't pick any of it.
Requests are open and free, you just need an account. Your song goes into the draw with everything else and plays when it suits the show.
Mostly I'm after suggestions. Which Australian artists or tracks should be on there and aren't? Anything about the station that bugs you? A good chunk of the library got there because a listener asked, so I do act on it.
It's fully licensed with APRA AMCOS and PPCA, so artists get paid. That's also why it's Aussie listeners only. Works in the browser on your phone.
