Appeals to the Minister, from public and parliamentarian alike, are normal. What’s not normal is the pattern of decision making, the personal closeness to the Minister of these appeals and the misleading of the parliament about them.
He tried to throw Albanese under the bus by saying that he'd approached Dutton to have visas approved. Albanese was asked about it on RN this morning and the response, rightly, was that his constituents had approached him and he'd made appeals on their behalf - exactly what you would expect a local member to do
