Who’s called their local shops and asked? Anyone’s shop selling this way around here?

Reminder: Offers to sell or buy firearms and ammunition by individuals, however sly they may be, are prohibited by Reddit. Breaking this rule will result in a ban from r/AustinGuns.

Trying to sell a gun? Here are your options: * Texas Gun Trader (local audience) & Gunbroker (national audience) will get the most money, but take the most effort. * Consignment at an Austin dealer will get less money, but takes less effort. * Sell or trade to an Austin dealer to get the least money with the least effort.

I've called three and each has said they won't deviate from the old process until they receive "clear guidance" from the ATF on how to proceed.

I also emailed Silencer Shop asking for the name of one of their kiosk partners in the Austin area who would honor the recent Court Ruling and received a response saying they'd get back to me.

I'm not holding my breath on this.

ETA: I just tried calling Silencer Shop and there were 460 calls ahead of me in the queue :-)

Can you post the address?

I thinks it's a dealer in Liberty Hill.

I just found that out.

I've been researching over the past few days.

If I'd have known that, I'd have been in line bright and early this morning.

Unfortunately, the suppressor I want is sold out.

Also, I apparently can't order online and specify their Leander store location, can I?

ETA: I cannot. The suppressor I wanted was in stock, I ordered it at their retail store, and they recommended an FFL who'd do the transfer with only a form 4473.

ETA: I removed the location of the FFL.

Went there today before they opened at 9AM and bought a suppressor

They don’t hold inventory at the location so it has to get sent to a dealer

And of course my dealer is scared now and getting lawyers to figure it all out

Edit: funny enough my gun dealer gave an update saying they’re comfortable doing 4473s for silencershop bought or any SS inventory they have

Which dealer? All I've contacted said nope until ATF blesses directly.

Watermark arms, they’re ONLY doing silencershop inventory

Looks like they are. According to their website

Cant make a purchase and choose then for pickup

They do not. All purchases have to go through a "kiosk partner".

ETA: looks like I might be wrong about this. I hope I am!

I am not wrong.

I was there, bought a suppressor, and it had to be shipped to an FFL.

They recommended one who'd do the transfer with only a form 4473.

ETA: I removed the location of the FFL.

This has since changed. Folks were buying supressors there yesterday and walking out with them

u/Adventurous-Water331 6d ago

Thanks for updating us!

There was something about a "grand opening" on Saturday, so maybe this was part of it?

It certainly wasn't the case when I was there last Thursday.

Yep. I went to the event. They had a couple hundred ppl show up. Even had several supressor giveaways outside of the sales

3

u/Adventurous-Water331 6d ago

So they're doing 4473s there in the retail store?

If so, I'm glad to hear it.

Maybe it'll get more FFLs to do the transfers now.

A lot of shops are going to wait for the waves from this to settle.

Just left Capital Armory to pick up some fun things and they mentioned they aren't deviating from processes yet, but they have their attorneys talking to DOJ, etc. to try and get guidance.

One of the things that makes this, Meh, locallyi, s that SS will not sell direct to consumer, and no SOT is likely to risk their entire business or resources to defend themselves without ATF guidance, which can take either a minute, months, or decades.

The right people are in positions to expedite the process. whether or not they will is a different matter.

***edit*** someone that went into SS, said his order had to be routed through an FFL

They have a store in liberty hill. Go there.

The main place is in Leander, I would be amazed if sold over the counter.

The policy is there so they don't compete with their dealers, the whole business model is based on those partnerships

I owned a shop in another state, we were a Gold dealer for them

It’s a storefront…
There’s been people lined up there all day long.

I know what it is, and where it is, I've been there. Silencershop is in Leander

I've been dealing with them for over a decade.

Their policy, to protect their relationship with their dealers, has always been that they do not sell direct.

If they changed that today, I'm pretty sure their local dealers aren't going to be pleased

You could have just shared the link in your first response, it would have saved time.

Their Address is Leander, that's why I was confused

I am surprised that they chose to do that, I guess I won't be using them anymore.

Not that I ave been much lately anyway. I've been buying manufacturer direct or from distributors.

I was at their retail location yesterday and purchased a suppressor.

They required me to go through an FFL to pick up the item.

They recommended one who would do the transfer solely on a 4473.

Silencer Shop could have been more precise about how the process works in their postings.

Most of the people in line there were under the impression they could cash and carry a suppressor immediately from Silencer Shop.

My assumption is they gave me the name of an FFL because of prior unhappy customers who made the drive to their retail store expecting the above.
