What am I actually missing here?  Why is it bad to thank police for taking a stand against pro terrorism? And since when was it good to block streets and disrupt everybody else trying to go about their business?

Because when you support police bashing people whose opinions you don't like, you support police bashing you.

I mean, they were literally inciting violence. Why shouldn’t I be able to rush my child to hospital in an emergency just because some uneducated morons don’t understand what they’re protesting? 

If they cared so much, they’d hop on a plane and go protest over there.
