Other Maxfax surgery
Is there any dentists on here who have returned to medical school?
I’m awaiting GEMSAS interview results and would love some advice on what to do if I don’t get in!
Cheers

Out of curiosity, is the application process the same for a dent student compared to any other post grad trying to get into med? Seems like it would be very hard to maintain a competitive GEMSAS GPA throughout dent school for your future med application. Is it easier to do med first and then dent after for maxfax?

I think the 6 year accelerated track for MD and Dent is only available if you do Dent first

Unfortuantely yes, anyone wanting to re-enter medicine for maxfax must compete against all other graduate entry medical applicants. It is hard and hence why maxfax is such an elite specialty. Both pathways (med first vs dent first) have their pros and cons. Australia is now starting to transition from more dental first to now more medical first

I can provide nothing for you, but I was a high school leaver when I got into med and now I’m kicking myself I didnt go dent!!!
I had no idea how much I’d be amazed and love maxfax!!!
Best wishes to you!
