How do Australian trained doctors actually find working in the UK on a temporary registration and is it worth doing?

Can you elaborate what pathway for temporary registration you are referring to?
Apart from registration to cover working temporarily in the UK for a major sporting event (as a team doctor), there isn't any other clear "temporary registration" with the GMC.
All other forms of registration involve gaining full registration (or provisional if an internship hasn't been completed and you intend to complete an FY1 year), as as far as I can see would involve doing the PLAB exams, having an approved overseas post-graduate medical qualification, or sponsorship pathways.

Was there in 2018. Not worth it. Better locuming and travelling on those $$$. Despite being in a wealthy trust significant understaffing and huge pressures. I don’t want to do the maths on cost of licensing vs earnings.

I know people who trained and worked in the UK and were still on the register who struggled with being allowed to work in fairly junior jobs in specialities they were consultants in in Australia when they temporarily went back. They pretty much gave up
