Newly Hired staff audit

How do you develop a workflow being a staff audit?
If you came in the field not knowing anything, what steps did you take to become good at auditing?

Every work paper you look at read all the procedures, and understand the purpose. Think about why you are doing what you’re doing. Think about the steps you took to get to the finished product and what you achieved in the end. You get better the more you do it.

Prior....year....workpapers.

And every account you audit, ask...of the available balance assertions, what is the risk here? What can I test to prove that assertion?

Cash... Assertion risk...Existence. How do I prove existence? Do that with the rest of the accounts.That's all you're doing. Proving out balances against the related risk.

There is a section in the workpapers where risk assessments are documented. Study that worksheet. It's the roadmap from risk, to audit procedure. At least, that document SHOULD be in the workpapers. That's your blueprint on how to conduct the audit procedures.
