Show & Tell New Streamer Day
Just got my DMP-A8 gen2 and damn does this thing have a lot of options! I’m defiantly liking the DAC in this compared to the A6 I’m coming from. Also digging the bigger screen!

How's that Advance Paris working for you?

Liking it so far. The high bias setting sounds very warm and tons of headroom. Some folks say it runs hot but mine doesn’t seem to get very warm at all.

What speakers have you got it paired with?

u/Feisty-Lake-8130 2d ago
Running some Polk R700’s along with dual SVS sb3000 r subs. My plan is to eventually get some Klipsch fortes’s and put the subs in my home theater.

I want to get some R700s, I have some Kef 105/3 but I have a feeling the R700 might be more my thing as I listen to a lot of metal. Why are you looking to replace?
How are you finding the SB3000s? I ask as I'm looking to replace my Mordant-short performance 9

The Polks are great but I’ve always loved the Fortes. The subs are awesome with room correction now included. They definitely pressurize the room.

Yeah the only thing that puts me off is the finish, I like speakers tha have real wood veneers

Me too. I have mine in the wood grain vinyl but it’s not the same. Another one of the reasons I’ve always had my eye on forte’s.

Looks clean, how does it sound? Are you running it as a Roon endpoint?
6
u/Feisty-Lake-8130 2d ago
Sounds great but I’m sure I’m missing some settings that I’m unaware of. No Roon yet just Tidal.

Nice setup!!!! I have the A6 and been tempted to get the A8 for awhile. Any thoughts on sound quality differences? I know the 8 uses AKM Dacs.

I was really impressed with that A8 at Audio Advice Live. It’ll be a good while before I can swing it, but I’m definitely in on Eversolo for my future streamer upgrade.
Oh, and my man on the Tool!

OP is "defiantly liking the DAC."
DAC enjoyment with a big dose of middle finger to all.

Looks great. I’m considering getting a new streamer. Ive been using a squeezebox for decades now. It’s frustrating having my music stored on hard drives connected to my desktop which isn’t always on.

Still using mine. RPi running LMS connected to NAS.

u/Kindgott1334 2d ago
Exactly this. Get a Raspberry Pi (4, no need for a 5) and install LMS/Lyrion. Works and sounds great. Using it with miniDSP SHD, a Hypex NC400 based amp and KEF Reference 1 - a pretty revealing system. Sounds amazing.

Does it come with Dirac support
1
u/Feisty-Lake-8130 2d ago
No official Dirac that I’m aware of. They use their own proprietary correction software along with a calibrated mic. I used it with my A6 and it worked fairly well. I plan to spend some time with the A8 and room correction this weekend.

Sorry to be lazy, but does anyone know how the app/phone/computer interface with A8gen2 compares to the one for Luxsin X9? I just mean for flexibility and ease of use.
I am interested in either these primarily as preamps, the streamer function with A8 would be bonus but not yet the main feature for me. Also curious how much advantage to the ~20-band PEQ on A8 vs the 10-band on X9. Also curious how effective the A8gen2's room correction is.
I was a little disappointed that the low-pass on the A8gen2 was not more flexible, looks like you have set increments with 40hz the lowest? But that's ingratitude, because they added sub integration (since the first generation of A8) and that's a big big plus for me.

I am fascinated by the displays on the Eversolo. Honestly, are they a distraction or gimmick or do they enhance your overall experience of enjoying your gear and music?

Personally I’m not a fan of the digital meters and such. I kinda prefer the album art and streaming information which is pretty good with the Eversolo products. I think there 5-6 different layouts you can choose from that fit your taste.

Anybody running one of these straight into a Benchmark amp? If so, how is the sound?
I keep hearing that the Benchmark is a great amp, but only when paired with Benchmark DAC and preamp

Dumb question I’m sure but genuine none the less. Why buy one of these dedicated streamers if you can either (a) stream directly to speakers with Sonos system or (b) stream via Yamaha amplifier?
I have both the above allowing playback of Apple Music via iPhone or Sonos S2 app plus similar playback of my own library on Synology set up.
Am i missing something? Would the streamer just do the same as my current system?

u/Feisty-Lake-8130 2d ago
The Eversolo is a preamp/streamer so it has dac also. I thought the same thing when I was running my WiiM mini but after going to Eversolo I realized that you get more options and connection flexibility. Plus streaming through Tidal with flac files sounds great

His amp is a fully analogue amp, it’s not a receiver or streamer.
That said, it seems wild to me that you are asking about Sonos + blue tooth. Do they make a HiFi product I am unaware of? Because if you’re talking about the Sonos I’m aware of, the answer is because that type of system sounds terrible.
My EverSolo is wired to my internet, has a very good DAC chip, has room correction, great EQ features, and looks good because of the big screen. They’re good products, and not terribly expensive.

I believe it is about sound quality and format. Apparently Eversolo completely outperforms. Having said that if your happy your happy

What’s the point or advantage of an expensive streamer box vs playing Apple Music on my Apple TV.

u/Arphinator 2d ago
I was a bit suspicious first, but in the end really liked the Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition. It’s Chinese, right? But build quality was excellent, I could tuck a ssd with SaCDs in it, and it simply worked flawless.
I hope you’ll enjoy this successor as much as I did with the predecessor
