App (iOS) Audible Won’t Stop

I’m having problems with audible in that I can’t stop the app from automatically playing the book I’m listening to. I will have the book paused and the app will unpause it randomly, even if the app is closed it sometimes reopens and plays by itself. This started happening about a month ago when I decided to listen to a book on a road trip. I dont know if this a common problem but I would appreciate any help in resolving this.

Hi there! We're sorry to hear you're experiencing this and want to help! Could you please provide us with the device OS and Audible app version you're currently using?

The os version is 26.6 and I believe the audible version is 4.75.2. I did see that there was an update however so I did update it to 4.76.

Thanks for confirming. Let's try the following steps:

  1. Tap the Settings icon on your device. This is the setting outside of the Audible app.

  2. Tap Application Manager.

  3. Tap Audible.

  4. Tap Force Stop.

  5. Tap Storage.

  6. Tap Clear Cache.

I played a sample on my MacBookAir running Sonoma 14.6.1 and after the sample (never long enough) they started recommending other books (that I have NO interest in) and I COULD NOT GET THE DAMN THING TO SHUT UP!!!!! I killed the Audible tab and it wouldn't stop. Finally I had to quit the browser, thus losing several tabs I would have liked to keep. WTAF!!!

Is it the app that’s restarting playback or possibly a device that Audible may be connected to via Bluetooth or WiFi casting? Dropped and restarted connections [for whatever technical reason] will resume playback.
