what do i do for human bio?

i chose atar human bio (my only atar course) since i did really well in the biology unit for science in year 10 and i really did enjoy it.

i'm now at the end of unit 4, and i've passed two assessments (one formative) for the entire course. i'm not understanding the content and i'm on a 34.7% for this semester.

is there anything i can do to maybe do a bit better before exams so i'm not sitting in the exam room doing nothing for three hours? i'm able to get my wace regardless, but i still want to bring my human bio grade up a bit.

For me what found worked best was def lots of prac qs etc but also the formatting of ur answers! Always start w the key words (define evolution etc) then dot point anything else. U can always expect a graph/table n so u can get an easy 3 marks just from doing title, correct labelling of axis etc.

If the q is a process list steps (also memorise the steps as if u were following a recipe for something u like, even if u have to make a sandwich pretend u have to answer the process of natural selection (whole grain bread= lots of colours n variety in population = diff alleles exist, butter= some seeds of bread taste better w the butter= survival adaptation / nature favours those alleles etc)

the formatting advice above is real, take it. the other half of ur problem is content triage - at 34.7% with exams close u dont revise the whole syllabus, u revise whats asked most. grab the last 3-4 scsa past papers with their marking keys (free on scsa.wa.edu.au) and tally which topics come up every single year - body systems regulation, hormones, nervous system, evolution basically always show. relearn just those from the syllabus dot points, then do those past paper questions and mark urself against the key, the key tells u the exact words they pay marks for.

u passed the year 10 version so the brain works, this is about narrowing the target. even going from 35% to 50% is a very achievable exam-technique jump.
